We were lucky to catch up with Daniela Falade recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Daniela, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Growing up watching my parents work so hard to provide for us while trying to accomplish their own personal goals and go through all sorts of life situations really taught me a few things. Especially now that I have a child of my own, I realize that you truly can’t give up no matter what circumstances may arise. You owe it to yourself to reach whatever goals you have set, and you owe it to your children or anyone looking up to you, to show them what hard work, dedication, teamwork and patience looks like.
Most importantly, always keeping God first. I believe the prayers my mom prayed over us really helped shape me into the woman I’m becoming today. When life starts to hit hard and my business gets a bit more stressful than usual, I don’t just walk away and give up on it, I cry if I need to cry, I take a mental break, say a prayer for guidance and get through it. I confide in my team as well and I sort everything out one step at a time. I strive for perfection in everything I do, and if I fall a little short, I remember that nobody is perfect, I give myself grace and learn from my experiences.
I get my resilience from my family and God (Isaiah 41:10).
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a caterer and private chef located in Arlington, Texas. I offer an affordable Luxury dining experience. I didn’t grow up with lots of money, but I was surrounded by lots of love, trials and tribulations that untimely shaped me to be who I am today!
Being the first-born daughter out of four siblings wasn’t easy, I put a lot of pressure and responsibilities on myself so I could help my parents and take care of my siblings as my parents worked long hours, my father being an entrepreneur himself. My siblings and I mostly just had each other. I believe I’ve always had a nurturing spirit but I’m sure that’s where it really stems from.
I started cooking as a kid just to help feed my siblings and me. I was always interested in trying new recipes and presenting my creations beautifully even as a young kid. I would use TV shows. things I saw online, and my imagination to come up with new ideas and would eventually get professional training to clean up my skills.
I love sharing my passion for food with others as well as networking and meeting all types of people. It makes me so happy to see people with their stomachs full with my good cooking, talking amongst each other in a room full of life and celebrations, whether it be a birthday party, engagment, graduation, whatever it maybe, my heart gets so full!
I plan to open my own Cafe, Publish a cookbook and so much more. I also plan on continuing my culinary education to ensure the best version of myself throughout my career.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey would have to be my culinary training, my faith, and the passion I have for what I do.
My advice to anyone struggling or trying to figure out their purpose, I would say to always stay true to yourself and what you believe in. Never let other people’s opinions or criticism change or alter how you view yourself. Always remain teachable, humble, and never lose sight of your goals and ambitions!
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is open-minded. easy to talk to, and respectful of my business and the work I’m putting into their event. I know everyone is different and I love all my clients all the same and treat everyone fairly. I’m big on treating others how I would want to be treated so I love when clients have that same mindset!
I’ve had sweet clients as well as clients that had me ready to give everything up, but I take everything as a learning experience, and I’ve learned not to take things too personally.
I believe anyone could be my ideal client, I attract people who align with me and the services I have to offer.
