Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danielle Bero. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Danielle, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
It’s the only part of all of this that matters in my opinion. It’s why we are alive, to create, to imagine, to collaborate, to build, to play…
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As an educator, I am always a teacher, camp counselor, professor etc. I founded a high school for students in foster care, was a high school principal and now work in school improvement. Outside of formal work, I founded and host 2 open mics that occur once a month, TriMic Open mic in Brooklyn which is a 3 part open mic series craft talk, workshop, open mic/ feature and Masqueerade a sapphic queer creative arts collective. @TriMicOpenMic and @Masqueerade.Parade

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
follow through, imagination/ creativity, community
Find your people and your passion and move with that- the journey is more important than the destination.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Looking to launch my second short film this year so need some strong folks to take us even further. The script is finished and the motif of queerness as the through-line is going strong. Fruit Loops did so incredibly well for my first project with 9 festival acceptances and 7 wins so far.
