Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danielle Fletcher. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Danielle , thank you so much for agreeing to open up about a sensitive and personal topic like being fired or laid-off. Unfortunately, there has been a rise in layoffs recently and so your insight and experience with overcoming being let go is relevant to so many in the community.
When I was laid off, I started The Retreat CEO. When one chapter closed, I felt a clear pull to begin another.
When one chapter closed, I felt a clear pull to begin another.
It was the day before a major business unit meeting in January. As my manager presented to the executive leadership team, I felt an undeniable sense that my season there was coming to an end. I didn’t know the details, but I somehow had peace about it. It wasn’t uncertainty; it was clarity.
From that day forward, I kept showing up at the office and doing my work with excellence, but I knew a transition was on the horizon. Every day felt like preparation, even though I didn’t yet understand for what.
Looking back, I can now see that the groundwork had already been forming months earlier. In the fall of 2024, I started writing down ideas, frameworks, and models, concepts that would later become the foundation of The Retreat CEO. I wasn’t sure where it would lead, but I followed that sense of direction with focus and curiosity.
When the call finally came that my position was being eliminated, I didn’t feel panic; I felt confirmation. It was a professional turning point, but also a moment of alignment. My faith grounded me, and my twenty years of corporate experience gave me the tools to act strategically.
I approached the layoff as a pivot point, not a setback. I began refining my notes, building out the frameworks I had started months earlier, and treating the idea with the same rigor I had brought to multimillion-dollar events and executive initiatives. I mapped processes, built systems, and developed the structure that would become The Retreat CEO.
It was through that blend of faith, skill, and execution that The Retreat CEO was born, a full-service retreat strategy and production company that helps leaders and brands design transformational experiences rooted in clarity and connection.
The experience taught me that transition isn’t always about starting over; sometimes it’s about stepping into alignment. What felt like an ending became an opportunity to merge everything I had learned, including strategy, leadership, creativity, and purpose, into something that now impacts others in meaningful ways.
Today, I help others build with that same mindset: grounded in faith, guided by strategy, and fueled by alignment.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
With more than two decades of experience producing large-scale corporate events and executive programs, and years serving as a trusted business partner to executive leadership, I recognized that my next chapter needed to merge strategy with meaning and work that created both impact and alignment.
At its core, The Retreat CEO is a full-service retreat strategy and production company. We partner with visionary leaders, entrepreneurs, and organizations to transform retreat concepts into profitable, purposeful, and strategically designed experiences. My work blends high-level event strategy with deep emotional intelligence, ensuring every retreat reflects the client’s mission, brand, and measurable goals while creating an atmosphere of clarity, trust, and transformation.
What excites me most is seeing the moment when strategy and soul meet, when intention becomes execution. When a client realizes their retreat isn’t just an event, it’s a growth engine for their business and a catalyst for transformation. That alignment is where everything shifts.
Alongside our full-service production work, The Retreat CEO offers a suite of programs designed to help leaders plan, position, and profit from their retreats with precision and confidence. These include VIP Strategy Intensives for personalized, one-on-one planning, our Signature Guest DNA™ framework for precision guest attraction, the Retreats to Revenue™ methodology for turning retreats into high-ticket pipelines, and Strategic Sponsorship Development to help clients secure aligned partners and funding opportunities.
Looking ahead, we’re preparing to launch The Retreat Mentorship Program in Summer 2026. This immersive program is designed to guide entrepreneurs through building, branding, and launching their own signature retreat businesses.
Beyond strategy, I’m passionate about curating elevated experiences for women who lead, creating opportunities to pause, reflect, and reconnect with their purpose. I believe retreats have the power to change businesses because they change people first.
I also serve as the Board Engagement Chair and Board Member of Radiant Chapters Collective, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to publishing nonfiction books for underrepresented entrepreneurs. The organization’s mission is to amplify their voices by transforming their stories into powerful books that heal, educate, and build legacy. This work deeply aligns with my belief that storytelling is one of the most transformative tools for leadership and impact. Through this role, I’m honored to help expand the reach of voices and legacies that deserve to be heard.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three qualities have shaped everything about my journey: purpose-led discernment, strategic vision, and resilience rooted in alignment.
Purpose-led discernment has guided every major decision I’ve made. Learning to pause, pray, and listen before acting has allowed me to build with purpose instead of pressure. I’ve learned that clarity doesn’t come from overthinking; it comes from alignment with God. Whether you connect through prayer, reflection, or stillness, create space to listen before you move. That stillness is where wisdom lives. My advice for anyone early in their journey is to cultivate quiet confidence, trusting the inner knowing that God placed within you, even when logic hasn’t caught up yet.
Strategic vision and execution have been just as essential. My experience working alongside C-suite leaders, boards, and executive teams taught me how to translate high-level strategy into actionable results. I didn’t just plan events; I helped shape experiences that supported business objectives and leadership alignment. Strategy is what turns inspiration into impact. If you’re building something new, focus on learning the structure behind your creativity: project management, systems, and clear goals. That’s what allows your ideas to grow sustainably.
And finally, resilience rooted in alignment has kept me steady through every transition. Resilience isn’t just about pushing through; it’s about knowing when to release, realign, and rebuild. I overcame setbacks by choosing peace over panic and alignment over activity. For anyone on their journey, remember that sustainability comes from staying aligned with your “why,” not just hustling for results.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was model resilience, perseverance, faith, and trust in God, not through words but through how they lived. I watched them navigate challenges with strength and grace, never losing sight of their faith or their purpose. They showed me what it means to stand firm in who you are, even when life tests your foundation.
My parents taught me that I could go after whatever I want in life and to never allow anyone to tell me what I can or cannot have. They instilled in me a belief that my dreams were valid and my voice mattered. That conviction gave me the courage to take risks, to rebuild after loss, and to create a life anchored in both purpose and faith.
Their lessons are the reason I lead the way I do today: with heart, with excellence, and with an unshakable belief that what’s meant for me is already mine through God’s timing. Every milestone I’ve reached and every chapter I’ve overcome traces back to the values they modeled, faith that grounds me, perseverance that drives me, and resilience that keeps me standing when life shifts.
Those same values now guide how I show up as a wife, a mother, and a woman of faith. The strength my parents instilled in me has become the legacy I hope to pass on to my daughter, to the women I serve through The Retreat CEO, and to anyone walking their own path of purpose and perseverance.
