Danielle, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
You know, I believe my true calling began to unfold when I found myself juggling the joys of motherhood with the excitement of starting my own business. My love for creativity and design has always been a big part of who I am, but so has my deep desire to be a devoted mom. After welcoming two little ones into the world, I found myself yearning for a way to express my creative side once again. Like most moms, I was exhausted, yet I longed to rediscover the part of me that used to design, create, and even earn from it. When Urbanwalls came into being, it offered me the amazing opportunity to create from home while still being fully present for my kids, and let me tell you, I thought that was just the coolest thing ever! The ability to generate a steady income from something I’m passionate about was an incredibly fulfilling experience. Coming from humble beginnings, being able to use my passion to provide a better upbringing for my children felt like living the dream in my eyes.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a proud mom of three wonderful kiddos – two boys and a lovely little girl. Alongside being a dedicated mother, I’m also the proud owner of Urbanwalls, a fantastic online wall decor company specializing in wall decals, wallpaper, and wall murals. Design and creativity have always been my driving passions. With a background in graphic and web design, I’ve spent the past 14 years pouring my heart into building this business alongside my husband. Our entrepreneurial journey began in Canada, and amid the challenges of the pandemic, we found ourselves making some exciting pivots, eventually expanding to establish a presence in Arizona as well. The thrill of nurturing and expanding our business is something we absolutely adore. Both my husband and I came from humble beginnings, so being able to create a life that we wholeheartedly love is truly a dream come true for us.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
in my personal experience, I’ve found three qualities and skills to be truly impactful in my journey: the willingness to learn, adaptability, and the simple act of showing up. When you’re building a small business, it often begins with a passion for creating something meaningful or adding value. However, as the business grows, it’s easy to shift more towards operational tasks. Managing staff, finances, overhead, and navigating the unpredictable nature of the economy present numerous challenges. Staying rooted in a mindset of continuous learning and growth, coupled with the ability to swiftly adapt and pivot, has been crucial skills that I’ve had to cultivate along the way.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
The last four years have been incredibly tough for countless businesses on so many levels. Navigating the rollercoaster ride of COVID and then transitioning into a challenging post-pandemic economy has truly thrown every imaginable challenge our way. Over the past 12 months, I’ve found myself becoming more resilient and adaptable, especially when it comes to delving into the financial aspects of the business – something I used to shy away from. I’ve also taken the plunge into personal development and learning to embrace the power of being present. With so much that’s beyond our control, it’s vital to focus on the things we can appreciate. Cultivating a life filled with gratitude and a strong work ethic has become my guiding light through it all.
