Meet Danielle Hurts

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danielle Hurts. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danielle below.

Danielle, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.
Navigating the challenges of a career as a tax professional presents itself in various forms. One is expected to possess comprehensive knowledge and comprehend the intricacies of the trade. Transitioning from receiving minimal compensation at large corporations to venturing out independently into the world can be daunting, leading to moments of self-doubt. However, maintaining a clear vision and recognizing that the purpose extends beyond mere financial gains. The commitment lies in being of service to those who rely on your expertise.

The true satisfaction arises from building relationships and aiding clients, surpassing the gratification that monetary rewards can offer. My resilience against burnout stemmed from the vision and rationale behind the creation of Timeless Professionals. The essence was to serve, assist, and educate not only my family, friends, and clients but also future tax professionals. Witnessing the growth of others became a source of profound fulfillment, reinforcing my dedication to the profession.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m Danielle Hurts, a seasoned tax professional with nine years of experience. What truly exhilarates me is the sense of relief I bring to my clients. I thrive on ambition and find great satisfaction in surpassing expectations. At Timeless Professionals, we offer a range of services including notary, loan signing, tax preparation, tax advisory, and business services. Our commitment extends beyond just guiding you through tax season; we provide year-round support. Reflecting on my journey as a business owner, I often recall my favorite quote: “Speak what you see until you see what you said.”

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Flexibility: In the Tax Industry, navigating through complexities is common. Rules, regulations, and even personal visions can change. The ability to adapt, flow like water, and navigate the gray areas is a valuable skill for any entrepreneur.

Ambition: Being a business owner requires self-discipline and determination. The key to owning a tax business lies in personal drive and ambition. While blueprints may be available, creating your unique path is what truly matters.

Communication: Effective communication is fundamental to success.

For those starting their journey, my advice is to:
1. Define a Clear Vision: Write out a clear vision for your journey. Knowing your destination helps you make informed decisions and stay on course.

2. Cultivate Flexibility: Understand that the path to success is rarely linear. Be open to adapting your strategies as needed and embrace the fluidity of entrepreneurship.

3. Focus on Your Path: While it’s beneficial to learn from others, avoid comparing your journey to theirs. Keep your eyes on your own goals, stay true to your vision, and trust the process you’ve outlined for yourself.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I experience overwhelm, my most effective coping strategy is journaling. I find that putting my thoughts, tasks, and necessary connections down on paper helps alleviate anxiety. Creating a list and being able to check off completed tasks provides a sense of accomplishment. Prioritizing at least 15 minutes of quiet time each day is crucial to clear the mind and make self-care a priority. In doing so, your mind will express gratitude for the mental respite.
