We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danielle Polgar. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danielle below.
Danielle, thank you so much for making time for us today. We can’t wait to dive into your story and the lessons you’ve learned along the way, but maybe we can start with something foundational to your success. How have you gone about developing your ability to communicate effectively?
Well, for the first 27 years of my life, communicating my truth didn’t come naturally. I was more concerned about pleasing others than I was about expressing my needs and desires.
In fact, I didn’t really know what was I wanted until I devoted myself to a journey of self-exploration through therapy, spiritual study, and a graduate program in counseling in my late 20’s. Eventually I learned how to trust my intuition and took risks to share myself authentically as a way of creating more intimate connections with others. Every challenging encounter in my relationships became an opportunity to practice communicating my needs and sharing my perspective, even when I feared how someone might react. I learned how to self-regulate amid the fear. And I learned how to take ownership of my experience so I didn’t self-abandon in an effort to “keep the peace”. Even though my body would shake and fear would rise to the surface, I stayed patient and compassionate with myself.
After over a decade of this practice, I feel more confident and at ease in my relationships. I share these practices with my clients to effectively teache and guide others how they can communicate more authentically.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Sure! I’m Danielle Polgar. I’ve been an Intuitive Counselor + Astrologer for 11 years. In addition to that I’m also a wife and mother of 2 children.
In my work, I help people develop authentic communication skills, self-awareness and self-acceptance through the healing art of astrology.
And how did you get into astrology?
It’s interesting, astrology is one of the only interests that has held my continued devotion throughout my life. I’ve been studying this language for over 20 years and figured out how to weave it into my unique private practice. I serve clients from all over the world.
Can you tell us a bit about your style and approach?
I bring a friendly and conversational dialogue into my sessions and I weave my psychotherapy training, intuition, and knowledge of astrology. The feedback I receive is that I provide validation, education, and practical suggestions that can help people successfully navigate life’s inherent challenges. I love to inspire people to feel more enthusiastic about their unique life paths.
I also offer on-going process-oriented counseling which is deeply transformative and empowering. I’m passionate about these sessions because they help people forge new relationships with their inner child(ren), and they break free from maladaptive responses. And I find this creates more ease in their nervous system and more freedom to be their authentic selves.
What are you working on this year?
This year I’m expanding my offerings beyond 1:1 work to include more group experiences: a mentorship group, a therapeutic writing group, monthly Q & A sessions, and an astrology e-course for parents.
And in addition to these, my husband and I started a non-profit last year called, ReSourcery Chiropractic and Counseling. We provide exceptional and thorough care to individuals and families in financial need. So that is a focus as well. You can learn more about our non-profit at resourceryhealing.org.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Most importantly, trust your intuition.
When we’re lost and searching for direction, our intuition is our greatest ally and compass. It’s not noisy like the mind though so it can be challenging for people to hear it. It takes practice to locate where intuition lives in one’s body. But once you start paying attention, you can notice how it feels and test it out.
Some people get confused between intuition and fear. I’ve learned that intuition is different from fear in that it will call you onward with curiosity and excitement, rather than stop you in your tracks. Most fear derives from unprocessed trauma and it can be transformed if given the space to be seen, heard, and held with compassion.
I think it’s tempting to ask other people, “what should I do?” But, since we have to live the consequences of our choices, I think it’s wise to filter other people’s suggestions through our intuition. I always remind my clients that they are the experts on their lives and it’s their responsibility to live it.
- My favorite motto ever: honesty creates intimacy.
I learned this phrase in my graduate counseling program and it continues to guide the way I communicate with others. Not only does it honor my truth, but it encourages others to have the confidence to share their truth. I believe when we take the risk to be vulnerable and authentic, we receive what we’re really after — which is, deeper connection.
- Manifestation tip: What you emit, you attract.
I attracted the love of my life by embodying how I wanted to feel in a healthy, fulfilling relationship. I practiced this daily for over a year until he eventually appeared! Though I didn’t manifest him out of thin air, I believe I emitted the frequency that attracted him into my life.
I’ve learned that when we’re trying to manifest something we want in our reality, we really have to BE that energy to bring it towards us, even if we don’t have it yet. We have to embody the energy of our desires because anything we wish to bring into form is ultimately manifested through our bodies: through our actions, behaviors, etc. So, are you coming from a place of desperation? Which can just echo the frequency of “not having” something? Or do you already trust that what you desire is on its way to you and you’ve created the space for it to enter into your life when the timing is right? This time is a potent time astrologically of giving ourselves the gift of believing our dreams and visions are possible.
How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who is at the precipice of great change. They’re curious about the mysteries of life and how they fit into that mystery and they feel ready to take the plunge into transformation of old patterns, beliefs, and ways of being. My ideal clients are those who are seeking freedom, empowerment and inspiration.
