Meet Danika Frandsen

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danika Frandsen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danika below.

Danika, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Passion. Having a true passion for what I am doing, and believing in the power to change lives has helped me move forward, even when there did not seem to be a path already forged.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

We help educate new parents on the skills needed to care for a newborn, thereby reducing the fear, overwhelm, and stress that comes with babies. We especially love helping gay dads who have used surrogacy to build their family. We spend time both before and after the birth of the baby, helping ease the transition into parenthood.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Having experience in the industry (healthcare) and seeing where the shortfalls are, listening (TRULY listening) to our clients on their specific fears and concerns, and believing that our services can change parents’ lives and experiences. Having a passion for working with babies and families helped guide us in every aspect of forming this business. Knowing where you want to end up is vital to helping you make the best decisions along the way.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

“Set Boundaries, Find Peace” by Nedra Glover Tawwab really helped me define who I want to be, and how I can give myself the best chance of accomplishing what I want. Learning about my boundaries helps me not only work more efficiently, but allows me the grace to rest and be rejuvenated during my downtime. Being a business owner can feel overwhelming, so knowing where your boundaries are can help manage that stress.
