Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Danny Knust. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Danny, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes straight from the Torah and my upbringing. The idea of “Avodah”, meaningful work, is built into who we are. My father led by example—never cutting corners, always showing up, and doing things with integrity. The Torah teaches “B’zei’at apecha tochal lechem”—by the sweat of your brow, you will eat bread (Bereishit 3:19). Nothing real comes easy, and that’s how I approach everything—whether it’s building a brand, editing a film, or doing marketing for a clinic.
I believe in working hard, but also working with purpose. If Hashem gives you talents, it’s on you to use them fully. So I keep pushing forward, knowing that success isn’t just about the outcome—it’s about the effort you put in along the way
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My journey has always been about storytelling—whether through film, branding, or fashion. I started as an actor, trained at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute, and later found my passion in editing and directing. There’s something powerful about shaping a narrative, whether it’s in a commercial, a film, or even a clothing brand.
I run Motek Sweetwear, a tech-inspired activewear brand that merges innovation with style. “Motek” means sweet in Hebrew, and the idea behind it is simple—move forward with confidence, resilience, and a little sweetness. We’re currently expanding our line, introducing new limited-edition hoodies and performance wear.
Beyond fashion, I also work in video production and marketing, helping businesses and creatives bring their ideas to life. Whether it’s a high-end commercial, a documentary, or a brand campaign, I believe that every project should have depth, authenticity, and meaning.
What excites me the most is blending creativity with impact—making things that people connect with, whether through a visual story or a piece of clothing that makes them feel powerful. I’ve got a lot in the works, and I’m always looking for the next project that pushes boundaries.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Resilience – Nothing great comes easy. There were times when things didn’t go as planned—projects fell through, ideas didn’t hit, and doors closed. But the Torah teaches us “Sheva yipol tzadik v’kam”—a righteous person falls seven times and gets back up (Mishlei 24:16). Keep pushing, learn from the setbacks, and move forward with even more strength.
Creative Vision – Whether in filmmaking, branding, or fashion, having a clear vision is everything. Don’t just follow trends—create something meaningful. If you’re just starting, focus on honing your craft. Watch, learn, experiment, and don’t be afraid to take creative risks.
Authentic Connection – Business and art aren’t just about selling a product; they’re about connection. Whether it’s through film, clothing, or storytelling, people gravitate toward what feels real. My advice? Build something you genuinely believe in, stay true to your values, and surround yourself with people who inspire and challenge you.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
They led by example. My parents didn’t just tell me to work hard or be a good person—they showed me through their actions. My father taught me the value of persistence, that no job is too small, and that integrity matters more than anything. My mother showed me the importance of creativity, resilience, and staying true to who you are.
