We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Daphane Handy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Daphane, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?
My optimism comes from my faith and my life experiences. I’ve been through seasons where it felt like everything was falling apart, but each time, God has shown me that even in the darkest moments, there’s always a light shown. I told a friend of mine the other day, “There are no failures in life, only lessons that lead us to a path of purpose.” I truly believe this and hope to always maintain this sense of optimism.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m the founder of both MTM Network and BXD USA, two ventures that may look different on the surface but are both rooted in storytelling, connection, and building something impactful.
MTM Network began as a platform to highlight rising talent and entrepreneurs, giving them a stage to share their journeys and inspire others. Now, we are focusing on evolving into a digital space where powerful stories of perseverance, creativity, and success live — and where audiences can connect with the people shaping culture in real time. MTM will become a launching pad for voices and brands that might not have had mainstream visibility otherwise.
BXD USA is my brand management and creative agency. We help businesses and individuals bring their visions to life through web design, social media marketing, viral brand campaigns, and full-scale brand management. Whether it’s helping a start-up develop a strong online presence or working with established brands to refresh their image, our focus is always on creating strategies that not only look good but also get results.
What excites me most about owning both brands is the impact they make. With MTM Network, we inspire and connect people through storytelling. With BXD USA, we give them the tools, visuals, and strategies to turn their dreams into something tangible.
Right now, my focus is on expansion for both. MTM Network is developing new content series and collaborations that blend entertainment with real-life lessons. BXD USA is growing its portfolio with more high-profile clients and larger campaigns, including projects that have the potential to go viral.
At the core, everything I do is about turning ideas into reality — whether that’s through media, branding, or creative strategy.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Vision
I’ve always been able to SEE the bigger picture, even when the resources, connections, or circumstances weren’t in place yet. My advice: Spend time defining what you want in vivid detail and then ACT ON IT. Don’t sit on it, don’t journal about too much or research the momentum away, simply create a to-do list, choose the easiest task from that list, and then DO IT! When you can see it clearly in your mind, and see that you have already worked towards your goal, you’ll know the vision can and WILL come true!
2. Authenticity
The biggest wins in my journey have come when I leaned into who I truly am, rather than trying to fit a mold. Authenticity attracts the right opportunities, clients, and partnerships — the ones aligned with your values. For anyone starting out, don’t be afraid to speak your truth, show your personality, your values, and even your imperfections. People connect with realness more than perfection.
3. Surround Yourself With Success
Who you spend your time with will either accelerate your growth or hold you back. I’ve learned that it’s not just about networking — it’s about intentionally building a circle of people who inspire you, challenge you, and genuinely want to see you win. For anyone early in their journey, protect your energy and choose to be around those who push you toward your best self. The right environment can unlock your potential faster than talent alone.
At the end of the day, success is a mix of clarity, authenticity, and community. If you can develop those three, you’ll be ready for anything that comes your way.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was give me identity, believe in me, and provide a deep sense of belonging. They made sure I knew who I was, where I came from, and what I was capable of. That belief became my foundation — it gave me the courage to dream big and the confidence to go after those dreams knowing I had a safe place to land.
