We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Daria Tatarintseva. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Daria below.
Daria, thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?
My self-discipline was shaped early on through my years as an elite athlete. I was part of the Junior National Synchronized Swimming Team and went on to have a successful 20+ year career in the sport. That journey demanded relentless focus, dedication, and resilience. Later, I was honored to be accepted into one of the most prestigious shows in the world—Cirque du Soleil’s “O” in Las Vegas. Performing in that show was a dream come true and the most extraordinary job I’ve ever had.
Both experiences instilled in me a deep sense of discipline, structure, and mental toughness. Training and performing at such high levels builds a certain character—a quiet strength that carries over into everything I do today.
As a business owner, that same discipline has been invaluable. Whether it’s staying consistent through challenges, managing the many moving parts of running a company, or showing up every day with purpose and intention, the habits I built as an athlete have helped me build a business rooted in passion, persistence, and quality.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Daria, and I’m the founder of Daria’s Soap LLC—a small-batch, handcrafted skincare brand based in Las Vegas, Nevada. I create soaps and body care products using organic, often vegan, and eco-friendly ingredients with a strong commitment to purity and sustainability. Everything I make is free of parabens, toxic chemicals, palm oil, and artificial colorants. Instead, I say yes to essential oils, skin-loving botanicals, natural clays, teas, and herbs—all chosen with care.
My journey began long before my business did. As a child, I spent summers at my family’s cottage near local farms, surrounded by nature, fresh food, and my parents’ garden. My mother taught me how to recognize the healing power of herbs, and I watched her create homemade infusions for skin and hair care. Those memories stayed with me.
Later in life, my path took a different turn. I was on the Junior National Synchronized Swimming Team and went on to have a successful 20+ year career in performance, culminating in my dream job with Cirque du Soleil’s “O” show in Las Vegas. Performing in that extraordinary show was the highlight of my professional life. But after years in chlorinated water, I saw firsthand how much damage it caused to skin and hair—not just for me, but for fellow performers too.
That inspired me to return to my roots. I began making skincare products for myself and my peers, just like my mother once did—only now with the added discipline and drive that came from years as a professional athlete and performer. Daria’s Soap was born out of love, necessity, and the desire to share natural healing with others.
What makes my work most rewarding is hearing how much people appreciate my products—the love and care I put into them truly resonates. I specialize in skincare that’s especially effective for sensitive and dry skin, which is common in the harsh Las Vegas climate. Whether it’s soothing creams and body butters or luxurious soaps, my mission is simple: to help people feel good in their skin using ingredients that are pure, nurturing, and close to nature.
Right now, I’m also expanding into the hospitality space, offering artisan soaps and body care amenities for boutique hotels and Airbnb hosts.
I hope that when someone uses my products, they not only feel cared for—but also connected to something real, simple, and beautiful.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
For me, the three most impactful qualities have been discipline, resilience, and creativity.
Discipline came from my background in elite sports and professional performance. Years of training taught me how to stay committed and consistent—even when motivation fades. For those starting out, I recommend setting small, realistic goals and building routines around them. Discipline is like a muscle—the more you practice it, the stronger it gets.
Resilience has helped me through the unpredictable ups and downs of business and life. There were moments when things felt overwhelming—especially when I transitioned careers and started my business from scratch. My advice? Don’t fear failure. Every challenge is a lesson that makes you better and stronger. Keep going, even when the results aren’t immediate.
And finally, creativity is what fuels my passion and sets my brand apart. It allows me to turn memories, herbs, and natural elements into something beautiful and useful. I encourage others to stay curious, keep learning, and never stop experimenting—you never know where your inspiration might come from.
Building something meaningful takes time, heart, and a lot of patience. But if you stay true to your values and keep showing up, it’s always worth it.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was giving me the freedom to make my own choices—and my own mistakes. They trusted me to find my own path, even when it didn’t follow the traditional route. That kind of support built my confidence and independence early on. It taught me how to listen to my instincts, take risks, and learn through experience. Looking back, that freedom was a gift that helped shape who I am today—both as a person and as a business owner.
