Meet Darian Harris

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Darian Harris . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Darian, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I have had to fight thru a good amount of adversity. I’ve lost a lot of things from housing to almost losing my mother. These last 5 years have been a major period of learning lessons. Now that I am on the back end of everything and recovering I appreciate life a lot more and that fire burns in me

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a Jack of a lot of trades. My focus is forever the music though. But, I am a mixture of a lot of Hip hop & R&B. I rap, sing produce and I am building up my own label. My Stage name is Yng Robin. I chose that because growing up my favorite sidekick on a super hero show was Robin. Im currently getting ready to roll out my next batch of music along with Apparel.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’d say 3 qualities that were most impactful on my journey are my kindness, tenacity and focus.

Advice I would give to anyone on their journey is to honestly be real with yourself. Only you know you at the end of the day. Stay close to God. Like actually try to build a relationship with him. Lastly, really be mindful of the company you keep. A lot of habits are passed thru people unknowingly so chose your friends very carefully

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
My biggest area has definitely been my confidence. Over the last 5 years I have had to do major deconstruction and reconstruction. I don’t act as if I’m God but coming from where I was to now is a big improvement. I just aim to be better day after day
