Meet Darian Harris

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Darian Harris a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Darian, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

I got my resilience from my Mom. My mom has always been driven and determined. She’s recently battled a stroke and to see her fight to get back to where she is is motivating. She’s always been my battery and even now I still here her voice when I need some encouragement

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a combination of Rap, R&B and Gospel. I rap and sing. My brand honestly is just about authenticity. I make music for the late bloomers, The lovers, The hustlers. If you really want something out of life I feel you will definitely relate to my music. I am currently building up and coming a Label called LOR.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three skills I learned were how to promote myself better, How to keep my confidence in myself and Networking

My advice for anyone in their journey that wants to develop these skills is to talk to God more. That has honestly been one of the best things I’ve started back doing. I’m still on my journey currently so I don’t fully have it altogether. You also have to surround yourself with folks who have the same mindset that you do

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

The biggest area of growth for me is definitely my confidence. Since I have taken the time to learn about myself and figure what my strength’s & weaknesses were I’ve discovered a stronger confidence in myself
