Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Darien Pugh. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Darien, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity honestly derives from the genuine want to see others do well. I believe there’s a balance between selfishness and selflessness that we as a people must work to achieve, but I mostly lean toward my selfless side.
Sometimes I feel like my level of humility in certain circumstances may lead to my downfall because humans in today’s society lack reciprocity. To me, it’s semi dangerous to constantly give when you have no one around to help replenish or reciprocate your energy.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Fearlessness- In life, we procrastinate as humans for several reasons, but mostly it’s due to fear. Eventually I reached a point where I convinced myself I could no longer be afraid to pursue my dreams regardless of what happened.
2. Genuineness- Living in the moment and being honest about your experiences will get you a long way. After living in a world filled with so much pretentiousness, people begin to appreciate a genuine soul because no matter what, a light will always shine in the dark. Remember that!
3. Communication- Being able to receive & transpose information effectively is extremely important and valuable. Sometimes it’s the inability to communicate properly that’s the demise of great leaders, companies, relationships, etc and so I’ve always focused on my own ability to listen, to hear and to be heard.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I’ve had a bunch of really great people come into my life at different times and for different reasons that has helped me achieve certain goals & milestones, but the person I’d say has always been that person I could turn to since day one would be my best friend Natasha (Tee).
From recording sessions and singing, to negotiations and business decisions, Tee has always been in my corner as my first choice for sound minded advice & support. Even beyond the music, she’s really a very important person to me whose opinion I value and respect.
Hopefully one day we’ll be on, and she’ll be like my road manager or something. Whatever happens, I just hope she’s always there for it.
