Meet Darnell Cole

We were lucky to catch up with Darnell Cole recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Darnell , thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
I look at the work I produce! it can seem funny but, doing the work, writing the songs, performing them to strangers, that IS being an artist at its core. whatever level of success I achieve is secondary.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
What do I do? I move people. I make connections with the music that bridge and transcend the normal boundaries we stipulate must be abided by like political views, religion, generation, all of that. I bring light into the dark and Illuminate the truth: we’re all one people. That’s why I’m excited for the newest album dropping June, as well as the UK tour planned for the same time!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I’d have to say the three qualities that impacted me most would be resilience, trust, and being outgoing. Resilience is born out of discipline and pushing yourself, seeing that you can and will survive. Trust allows you to believe in the goals you seek, and know that they’re moving toward you. Being outgoing, and dipping your toes into new ventures will expand your knowledge and opportunities exponentially.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
The music! Besides finding a more solidified unit to perform with, the songs have really become much more mature, refined, and have moved in a direction I’m excited for people to experience!
