Meet Darwin Akash

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Darwin Akash a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Darwin , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Confidence stems from diligent practice in specific tasks, fostering a strong belief in one’s abilities. Excessive rumination can lead to squandered time and health concerns. To cultivate confidence, understanding the regulations and methodologies pertinent to the task is essential. Adhering to good practices enhances self-assurance. Clarity in objectives and boundaries is crucial; mastering the art of refusal, although challenging, is equally important as acquiescence. Past experiences contribute significantly to building confidence, as life’s lessons continually shape and fortify one’s resolve.

Confidence is not a trait that appears out of thin air; it is a result of consistent effort and dedication to honing specific skills. By immersing oneself in deliberate practice, one can develop a deep-rooted belief in their capabilities. However, dwelling excessively on thoughts can be counterproductive, consuming valuable time and potentially impacting one’s well-being negatively.

To nurture confidence effectively, it is vital to familiarize oneself with the rules and strategies relevant to the task at hand. Following best practices not only improves performance but also boosts self-assurance. Clearly defining goals and limitations plays a pivotal role in this process. Learning to say no, despite its challenges, is just as crucial as saying yes, as it sets healthy boundaries and priorities.

Moreover, past experiences serve as invaluable teachers, shaping and bolstering one’s confidence over time. Each lesson learned contributes to the construction of a stronger, more resilient self. Embracing life’s ups and downs with an open mind and a willingness to grow is key to building unwavering confidence.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hi, I am Darwin Akash, an Aeronautical Engineer and VFX artist. It all started in my childhood. One day, I was given a mobile phone which was not a smartphone. At the time, we used button mobiles. In that phone, I discovered a new button which was labelled as “EDIT”. Yes, it was the first time I had seen that option. I started editing my photos by cropping, scaling, adding clip art to the image, etc. Over the period of time, smartphones came, offering more options than button mobiles. After several years, I got a laptop. My skills developed and I became more interested in editing and VFX. I learned many software programs like Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D, and Blender. Additionally, I know how to use Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premier Pro. On the other hand, I love aeronautics, so I completed my B.E in Aeronautical degree, which is my professional side, where VFX is my passion. Using my skills, I have completed many works and projects, especially using my designing skills, I have done a lot of freelancing work.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Always learn from the basics; have a solid foundation in basics. The three most important values are:

1.Learning
2.Consistency
3.Communication

I prefer these three for all people.
Learn from mistakes; no one is perfect.
Every mistake you make is a step you climb up.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
All the skills I have today is self taught. which learned from YouTube, Skillshare, Udemy, etc. Also by doing many projects and works. every has a one smart phones in their hands, they can learn from where ever they want. I always starts from basic and slowly build-up the skills. Sometimes books, I refer books for learning things books are great resource for learning. For example for the animation basics I have read Disney’s books which is “The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation ” it contains the twelve basic principles of animation that is used in Disney studios. There are many ways to learn and develop the skills, but it is upon the person.
