We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dasani Taylor. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dasani below.
Hi Dasani, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.
Creative blocks are the worst—especially when you’re trying to evolve your brand but aren’t sure what direction feels right. After five years in business, I’ve definitely hit those moments where I’m stuck, second-guessing my aesthetic, and wondering if I’m ready for change. When that happens, I’ve learned that forcing creativity never works. Instead, I take a step back and do things that naturally bring out my creative energy. Painting, roller skating, or just playing around with new design ideas helps me reset. The best ideas usually come when I’m not overthinking them. Burnout is real, and the last thing I want is to lose passion for something I love—so giving myself space to recharge is key.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I help people feel confident in their skin through Everything Solé, a skincare brand that turns everyday body care into an experience. Skincare isn’t just about what you put on your skin—it’s about how it makes you feel. That’s why I create products that nourish not only the body but also the senses, blending rich, skin-loving ingredients with nostalgic, feel-good scents.
My journey started when I was 17, inspired by my non-verbal autistic sister, Danaya, who has struggled with eczema her whole life. I wanted to create products that weren’t just effective but also brought joy, comfort, and a moment of self-care. Since then, I’ve been able to help thousands of people find skincare they love—whether they have sensitive skin, are looking for clean and fun alternatives, or just want products that make them feel good.
Now, I’m evolving Everything Solé even further—refreshing the brand’s aesthetic, expanding into new product categories, and making the experience even more immersive. My goal is to continue helping people romanticize their self-care routines with products that feel like little luxuries, without compromising on quality or effectiveness.
If you’re someone who wants skincare that’s both indulgent and skin-loving, I can’t wait for you to experience what’s next!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three key qualities shaped my journey: adaptability, branding, and self-discipline. I’ve learned that success isn’t about having it all figured out—it’s about evolving, refining your vision, and showing up every day. Adaptability helped me pivot when things didn’t go as planned, strong branding allowed me to stand out in a crowded market, and self-discipline kept me moving forward even when motivation faded. If you’re just starting, embrace change, tell your story boldly, and stay consistent. Growth comes from persistence, and the best brands are built by those who aren’t afraid to evolve.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
One book that has played a huge role in my development is Diary of a CEO by Steven Bartlett. There are plenty of great reads out there, but this one really resonated with me. His lessons on self-discipline, leadership, and the emotional side of entrepreneurship helped me navigate—and continue to navigate—the ups and downs of running a business. One of the biggest takeaways for me was the idea that success isn’t just about strategy; it’s about mindset. Bartlett emphasizes the importance of emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and resilience, which are all things I’ve had to master as I grow Everything Solé. His perspective on failure also stuck with me—seeing setbacks as lessons rather than roadblocks has completely shifted how I approach challenges. If you’re an entrepreneur or creative trying to level up, I highly recommend it!
