Meet Da’Shawn Catron

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Da’Shawn Catron. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Da’Shawn below.

Hi Da’Shawn, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I discovered my purpose by leaning into my passion for youth development and realizing how much I wanted to inspire the next generation. Over time, I saw that storytelling could be a powerful way to encourage, guide, and uplift young people. That passion eventually led me to write my book, creating something that not only reflects my creativity but also serves as a tool to empower youth to see their own potential.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My name is Da’Shawn Catron, and my journey has always been rooted in creativity, youth development, and the power of using my voice to inspire others. From an early age, I recognized the importance of mentorship and storytelling in shaping the lives of young people, which led me to write my book. The book was born from my passion for youth development and serves as both a reflection of my creativity and a tool to uplift and encourage young people to see their potential. Through this work, I realized that my purpose is bigger than just writing, it’s about building a brand that stands on inspiration, leadership, and empowerment. My brand represents who I am and the values I stand for: creativity, resilience, and advocacy for the next generation. Whether through my writing, public speaking, or community involvement, I strive to motivate others to embrace their dreams, step into their greatness, and understand that purpose comes when passion meets service.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, communication, and vision. Resilience has helped me overcome challenges, communication has allowed me to share my message effectively, and vision has kept me focused on the impact I want to make. For those starting out, I’d advise embracing challenges as opportunities to grow, practicing how you express yourself, and taking time to reflect on your passions so you can align your goals with your purpose.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

While my own book has been a meaningful milestone in my journey, the Holy Bible has truly been my “book of life.” Its teachings have guided my values, decisions, and sense of purpose, shaping how I approach challenges and opportunities. From it, I’ve learned timeless lessons about resilience, integrity, and serving others. Writing my own book allowed me to put some of those lessons into action, creating something that not only reflects my creativity but also seeks to inspire and uplift young people in their own journeys.
