We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dasia Thomas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dasia below.
Dasia , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
My confidence development started once I began discovering myself unapologetically. I let myself explore anything I was interested in. I’m okay with having awkward moments or being unconventional. All of that helped me let loose, have fun, explore new talents and interests, and ultimately build the confidence I have today. The saying is, “Embrace the cringe.” And to be fair, once you embrace being cringey, you can do just about anything and think nothing of it! That’s where true high self-esteem is created.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Well, I’m Dasia
I grew up like any other kid. From a young age, in elementary school, I started taking theater classes. They were required for school, but I truly enjoyed them. I continued classes up until high school.
When I started adulthood, I forgot about the field of art and went to college to focus on academics. It wasn’t until 2020, when Covid occurred, that I decided I wanted to do modeling. Thinking about it now, I wasn’t always actively looking for acting opportunities; I kind of just added “actor” to my title. I wasn’t fully ready for that next step until one day.
Two years after I started modeling, I came across a friend of a friend who was looking for their replacement for a film. I was unaware of exactly what was needed, but I gave my YouTube channel (which had vlogs of my journey) and my resume. The director reviewed my information, and I was picked for the part. That was my first film and the first time as an adult that I did any sort of acting. After this opportunity, I tried for a while to look for more opportunities, but I just wasn’t “ready,” even though I got auditions. I also decided to stop modeling due to alignment at the time. I ultimately decided to take a break.
Earlier this year in 2025, I randomly decided that I wanted to try again, but this time I focused on acting as my core and modeling as my secondary. Once I did this, I immediately got auditions and opportunities. I knew this might be my path. I booked a role in the hit cable TV series Fatal Attraction as my second time being behind the camera. I even got invited to a private Dave and Buster’s event as a model. From these opportunities, I knew people were watching, appreciating the work that I was putting out, and rooting for me.
Acting and modeling are so fun for me, and they’re so expressive. I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three top qualities that I have are persistence, knowing my limits, and confidence. If I want something, I’ll try. I don’t shy away—the worst that can happen is that it doesn’t happen at all, and I already know what that’s like.
The second quality I have is knowing my limits and knowing that it’s totally okay to take breaks. We live in a hustle culture, which means, in general, you never stop “grinding.” After a while, you fizzle out and don’t even enjoy what you love, and sometimes you may end up hating it. I do my best to avoid that. One of the worst things is disliking something you used to care so much about; it leaves you with regret and the thought of should and should-nots.
I also think that having a background in theatre helped me build confidence in acting on film and modeling in front of the camera.
The advice I would give is to, first, have fun. If anything you love is becoming too stressful, take a step back. People would rather work with you when you are in higher spirits than not. And finally, use what you already know.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
It goes back to what I was saying earlier about the quality that I have. I take a step back and know when to take a break. That really is the best advice to give. There is no regret in resting.
