Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Dave with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My Work Ethic’s Definitely come from my Father! he worked for McDonnell Douglas Aerospace Company as Head of Budgets Control. I wish I had his Math Skills LOL. He got up early and took the bus to work everyday which was quit far from home. Growing up we only had one car so taking the bus was the only other option if you could not carpool to work. This Ethic showed me that no matter what you get to where you need to be so you can do your job! No Excuses!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the Owner/Operator of “Cosmic Comics, Games & Collectibles” which is Located at 132 W main, Belleville, Il We have been in Business for 6 years this September of 2023. I am also the co-owner along with my Wife Susan Dyer of “the Voodoo Alligator a Unique Boutique” which is an Antique & Art Gallery Boutique. I am also an Artist & have a B.A. Degree in the Arts from Webster University. It would seem that I have always had an Entrepreneurial Spirit at least that’s what my Therapist said once LOL. We have something very exciting coming up Friday 13th & 14th, 2023! We will be Hosting the 1st Annual “DraculaFest” with Special Guest Dacre Stoker who is the Great Great Grand Nephew of Dracula Creator/Author Bram Stoker! this will be a Amazing Weekend of Q&A Panels, Meet & Greets, a Vampire Bar Crawl, Movie Showing of the 1979 Frank Langella Dracula and so much more.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Quality Wise it would be my Art which in life has kept me Focused, always keeping my eye on the canvas so to speak. The Canvas Represents Life so keep staring at it no matter if you paint on it right away or later. Figure out what you want on that Canvas, the Image will get clearer at times but other times it may be blurry & that’s just fine as long as you remember what the original image or Idea was when you started.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The Economy is Definitely hurting our Business along with the changing landscape of the comic book industry.. People are buying less of the new comics that are coming out because they no longer have expendable income. We have had to rethink our business plan, we have cut back on ordering new comics along with other items & re-designed our store inside to highlight certain other items, adapting a new floor plan.
