Meet David Gort

We recently connected with David Gort and have shared our conversation below.

David, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Growing up in a single parent home, I watched my Mother work multiple jobs to make ends meet. She never complained about having to work more than one job, she would always say “you gotta do what you gotta do to take care of home”.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
DGort Photography started about 15 years ago as a hobby, which quickly grew to a passion. Since DGort Photography’s beginning as just a wedding photographer, it has evolved into a complete Event Photography Company where we offer professional photography for all your needs. We offer engagements photos, weddings, senior photos, individual and corporate head shots, personal and family photos. We also provide our services for a number of different events from birthday parties, to holiday parties, concerts and stage plays. We print photos on site as well as offering them digitally and we offer the 360 photo booth experience. By offering all three services we have become a one stop shopping photography company.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that have been most impactful has been our flexibility to offer one or all of our services. Our attention to detail to cater to each client’s event, allowing them to offer their input and vision. And our customer service to provide a professional, fun and convenient process for whatever service they have chosen. The advice I can offer to anyone who’s starting out on their journey is to advertise heavily, the more visibility you give yourself opens up doors for more opportunities. Accept constructive criticism. Understand that change is inevitable and mostly that customer service goes a long way.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
The biggest area of growth has been adding the 360 photo booth experience, it has been a game changer. Being able to add this piece to our resume has been huge. It is a party favorite along side of our other services that had made events even more memorable for each client.
