Meet David Lonergan

We recently connected with David Lonergan and have shared our conversation below.

David, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes from my time in the Marine Corps. Those years taught me discipline, resilience, and the importance of pushing past what I thought were my limits. Leading over 150 Marines and being a MCMAP instructor really showed me that hard work isn’t just physical—it’s about mental strength and showing up every single day, no matter what.

Since then, I’ve taken those lessons into everything I do. In fitness and coaching, for example, I aim to create something better, different, and magical for my clients. To me, every challenge is an opportunity to grow, and I try to bring that mindset into every aspect of my life and my work. It’s about putting in the effort, pushing through, and always looking to improve, not just for myself, but to help others reach their goals too.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m David Lonergan, a Marine Corps veteran and a fitness and nutrition coach. After leaving the service, I went through a period where I wasn’t taking care of my health—mentally or physically. It took hitting rock bottom for me to make a change, and when I did, I went back to basics: no alcohol, eating whole foods, and focusing on movement. In just three months, I lost 30 pounds and felt like I’d found a new purpose.

That journey inspired me to create Triple Threat Transformation. The idea behind it is simple but powerful: to transform through movement, mindset, and manifesting our goals. I believe that to reach any goal, we have to exercise, build a positive mindset, and truly believe in our ability to succeed. So, that’s what I offer, a holistic approach to fitness that focuses not just on physical strength but on mental resilience and self-belief.

What excites me most is seeing people achieve things they never thought possible. I run weekly kettlebell classes, hikes, and even online coaching sessions to help clients on their journeys. And I’m especially proud of my Sunday classes, which are free and open exclusively to veterans and military members as a way of giving back to my community.

Right now, I’m focused on expanding my reach. I’ve recently introduced an online nutrition and fitness program with weekly Zoom calls, and I’m planning to add more community-driven events. I want to show people that with the right support, we can all make changes that feel better, different, and even a little magical. That’s what Triple Threat Transformation is all about, transforming lives from the inside out.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three main qualities that really shaped my journey: resilience, discipline, and the power of self-belief.

First, resilience. Life has its challenges, and my own journey has been no different. There were times I hit rock bottom, but learning to get back up and push forward has been essential. My advice for anyone starting out is to embrace challenges as opportunities to grow.

Second, discipline. This is something the Marine Corps taught me and something I lean on every day. Discipline isn’t just about doing the work when it’s easy; it’s about showing up even when you don’t feel like it. To build this, I recommend starting with small, consistent habits. Over time, those habits build the foundation for bigger goals.

Finally, self-belief. For a long time, I didn’t believe in myself or my ability to make a change. But once I started seeing the potential within myself, everything else fell into place. If you’re at the start of your journey, know that self-belief can be built, just like a muscle. Start by setting small goals and celebrating every win, no matter how minor it may seem. Each victory will help you see what’s possible and motivate you to keep going.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m always open to partnerships and collaborations with people who share a passion for transforming lives through fitness, mindset, and community. I’d especially love to connect with fellow veterans, fitness coaches, mental health advocates, nutrition experts, and wellness brands who are committed to creating something better, different, and magical.

I believe that collaboration amplifies impact. Whether it’s co-hosting events, running joint fitness challenges, or sharing resources to support each other’s communities, I’m interested in working with folks who bring unique skills and fresh perspectives. Together, we can reach more people, inspire positive change, and build a supportive network that lifts everyone up.

If you’re interested in collaborating, you can reach me through my Facebook group, Triple Threat Transformation, send me a message on social media, or visit my website at https://www.triplethreattransformation.com. Let’s connect, share ideas, and see how we can create something powerful together!
