Meet David Tito Rivera

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful David Tito Rivera a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi David Tito, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I was always around sports, it was a big influence on my life. Weather I was participating or playing video games or attending games. I learned about the players and stadiums names through video games and the internet. I became more than a fan as I got to know the players and staff.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Welcome to Timeout With Tito, in this channel you will see me interview individuals from different sports organizations including but not limited to; athletes, coaches, owners, broadcasters, fans and anyone involved in the sports world. My final goal is to be a broadcaster.

I think it is important for you to know that I have been diagnosed as Intellectually delayed or high functioning, this is what I have had all my life and was in regular classes and classes for special needs in school. I am part of Regional Center, Sports for Exceptional Athletes and American Youth Soccer Organization. I do all the editing for my channel, make QR Codes and I take mixed media lessons with Outside the Lens; Media Makers.

I am letting you know this about me, because as a representative of this community, I want others with this diagnosis and almost any other intellectual diagnosis to pursue their dreams and achieve their goals and understand with proper planning, support and execution they too can make their dreams come true.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Watch and learn about games/sports you are interested in. Look at broadcasters, study the craft. Take personal care in your appearance. Be polite and take constructive criticism when given. You can take toast master classes, broadcasting courses and speech class.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

Limited connection to other sports. Networking and utilizing the connections I have now and make new ones
