Meet David Weiss

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful David Weiss. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with David below.

David, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
From my parents, definitely they both where and still are big roll models for me, mom is the one that would push me and dad the one with the good advices.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a chef since the age of 18, so almost for 20 years already, I was trained in a French family owned restaurant for 2 years and in a 2 Michelin stars restaurant, after working in Germany for almost 10 years, I made it here to the us, where I start to work as a chef in a French bistro in Madison WI in 2014, 2 years later in 2016 I opened my own French bistro down here in Florida, located on the island of Tierra Verde, 15 minutes from Downtown St Petersburg, where since we open we have more and more popularly, mainly because of the authenticity of our menu and the quality of our products. I brought the same concept and quality of food just like we have in France. Even the décoré of the bistro is authentic with furniture and decorations imported from France and Germany, everything makes it a place like no where else around the Tampa Bay Area, we made it twice in the top 10 of the best French restaurant in Florida and what I am the most proud of is that I came out with my 1st cook book last year in October, the book is Calle “let’s cook French” and is available on Amazon.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Definitely: courage, faith, and determination, like most of journeys, things will get taff and hard but never loose the light and keep going, it’s worth it at the end.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My business partner and very special person in my like Sebastien, we met 17 years ago and he was and still is someone that pushes you and motivates you with his wise words, his work ethnicity and kindness also helped to bring the restaurant to where we are right now
