Meet Davina Ijimakinwa

We were lucky to catch up with Davina Ijimakinwa recently and have shared our conversation below.

Davina, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.

I create content on the side while having a full time job which makes balancing both a little challenging. Some things I do to avoid burnout are scheduling content creation around my work hours and setting aside specific time slots for filming, editing, and brainstorming. Additionally, I create multiple pieces of content in one session, then stagger posting throughout the week. This allows me to maximize my time while still maintaining consistent output. It is really important for me to set realistic goals. I have been focusing on quality over quantity and I constantly remind myself why I started creating content to keep the excitement alive.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

What’s most exciting about what I do is the ability to connect with people through shared experiences. Whether it’s a new restaurant, a travel destination, or a unique fashion find, I love sharing my discoveries with my audience and seeing how it inspires or resonates with them. It’s especially rewarding to create content that not only entertains but also informs or helps someone make a decision they’re excited about.

My brand is all about authenticity. I focus on curating real, relatable content that reflects my personal journey, whether it’s a hidden gem in the city or a fresh beauty routine. I love keeping things fun, engaging, and visually appealing, with a vibe that feels warm and welcoming to anyone who follows along! If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three key qualities and skills that were most impactful in my journey as a content creator are:
-Consistency: Staying consistent with posting and engaging with my audience has been crucial. It’s not just about producing content regularly, but also showing up with the same level of energy and authenticity. For those starting out, I’d advise setting a schedule that works for you and sticking to it, even if it’s just once a week.

-Creativity and Adaptability: Content creation is an evolving space, so being creative while staying open to change has been important. Whether it’s adapting to new trends on platforms like TikTok or finding fresh ways to present familiar topics, creativity helps you stand out. To develop this, experiment with different types of content and formats, and don’t be afraid to try something new, even if it feels out of your comfort zone.

-Community Engagement: Interacting with my audience has helped me build a community which is way more important that numbers on a screen! Responding to comments, engaging with followers, and making them feel seen turns casual viewers into a community. Early on, it’s important to value each comment or message. Treat every follower like they’re part of something special and make engagement a priority.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, I’m definitely open to collaborating with others! I love working with people and brands who share a passion for lifestyle, travel, beauty, fashion, and food content. Whether you’re a fellow content creator, a brand looking to partner for a campaign, or a small business in Oklahoma wanting to showcase your products, I’m excited to collaborate in ways that are authentic and mutually beneficial.

I’m especially interested in partnerships that focus on elevating unique experiences, discovering hidden gems, and creating engaging, relatable content. If you’re someone who aligns with these values and wants to create something impactful together, feel free to reach out! You can connect with me through DMs on Instagram or TikTok (@lifeasdavina or @davinaandthecity), or email ([email protected]) for any collaboration inquiries. Let’s make something awesome!
