We were lucky to catch up with Davis Caruso recently and have shared our conversation below.
Davis, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I continue to develop my confidence and self esteem by surrounding myself with people that I trust and getting regular feedback. It’s been important for me to recognizes areas of weakness and nurture them. I would add that vulnerability and risk taking are key ingredients along with a healthy blend of not taking yourself too seriously!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
During the global pandemic in 2020 I was able to reflect and consequently redirect my course. I spent several months in the mountains of southern Mexico living in a treehouse where I was able to simply be for what felt like the first time in my life. By this time my passions for music and dance were clear, but I wasn’t able to bridge them with the lifestyle I imagined for myself. I stayed open and curious, taking steps toward finding a group of people with unique skill sets that would serve our collective vision of sustainability through the arts.
Looking back, as the wheels are well in motion my hope is to inspire others who aim to build community and sustain each other.
I am excited to have recently published a second compilation of music called “Dreaming On Paris” which is available to stream wherever you listen to music. As we continue expanding on our work we hope you’ll follow along and are moved by what you find.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Here are three big ones that come to mind…
Trust your gut. It’s so valuable to surround yourself with people who challenge you and offer an alternative perspective. However, there will be times to refer to your internal compass and summon the strength to take a step in an unpopular direction.
Communication. Years ago I began integrating nonviolent communication into my life. I began to notice the complex web of feelings and emotions that exist in us all the time. They became my tools. I learned to more clearly express myself and listen with empathy which has improved the quality of all my relationships.
Keep Learning. As a leader there is nothing more effective at motivating others than to better yourself. The people who are meant to join you will reveal themselves by putting their faith in the process that you’ve set in motion.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Whether feeling overwhelmed, stressed, frustrated, upset or anything unpleasant for that matter the first step is to acknowledge it. Our feelings are here to inform and support us in returning to our peace and clarity. I rely on my breath to calm my nervous system and understand what’s happening. Letting negative feelings fester yields the risk of destructive behaviors which take us off course and can potentially damage the relationships we’ve spent time nurturing.
My advice would be to get comfy with vulnerability. Witness yourself handling hard situations with poise and patience. Trust that even when feeling triggered or uncertain you are capable of responding in a way that reflects your greater purpose.
