We recently connected with Davone “day” Madison and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Davone “Day”, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding my purpose has been a journey shaped by my personal experiences, aspirations, and the communities I am deeply passionate about. Growing up as a Black woman, I have always been driven to advocate for racial equality, social justice, and the LGBTQIA+ community. These values have guided me in every path I have taken.
My dedication to enlightenment and encouraging others to deconstruct systemic oppression stems from a desire to foster a more inclusive society where love prevails over hatred. Through engaging dialogues with the white community, I aim to bridge understanding and work towards coexisting harmoniously in a world free of discrimination.
In my professional endeavors, I have ventured into various fields, from leading Dollhouse Enterprises Inc. a social networking company for lesbians which lead to my ignited a passion that led to the establishment of PXD Media & Entertainment – a platform that combines video production, clothing line, and book publishing.
Through PXD, co-owned with my life partner Pam Jackson, I have continued to amplify voices, champion representation, and contribute to meaningful storytelling. My journey as an author of Anti-Racism books online aimed at empowering white women in becoming anti-racist aligns with my core mission of effecting positive social change.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
In my journey, three qualities that have been most impactful are empathy, resilience, and intersectional understanding.
– Empathy: Being able to empathize with others’ experiences and perspectives has allowed me to connect with different communities on a deeper level and drive meaningful change. My advice for those early in their journey is to actively listen to others, seek to understand diverse viewpoints, and practice empathy in all interactions to build genuine connections.
– Resilience: Navigating spaces focused on advocacy and social justice requires resilience in the face of challenges and setbacks. It’s essential to stay determined, adapt to obstacles, and learn from failures. My advice is to cultivate a growth mindset, view challenges as opportunities for growth, and prioritize self-care to build resilience in the long run.
– Intersectional Understanding: Recognizing the interconnected nature of social issues and identities is crucial in fostering inclusive change. Developing an intersectional understanding helps in addressing complex systems of oppression and advocating for equity across various marginalized groups. To early journeyers, I suggest educating oneself on intersectionality, amplifying diverse voices, and taking an intersectional approach in their advocacy efforts to create more comprehensive and impactful solutions.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My deceased mother, Sylvia Madison, has been the most influential figure in helping me overcome challenges and develop the essential skills, qualities, and knowledge needed for success. Through her wisdom, guidance, and unwavering support, I have been able to navigate obstacles, grow as an advocate, and embrace the values that drive my work towards racial equality, social justice, and LGBTQIA+ inclusivity. Her legacy continues to inspire and shape my journey in profound ways.
