We recently connected with Dawn Gregory and have shared our conversation below.
Dawn , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
As a young girl I had the best grandmother. She saw something in me that I could not see within myself. She would set up teatime with me and a few other ladies that came over to have a women’s talk from her church. So, the basis was religion, they would sing, read versus and each one would talk about something that they wanted to have prayer for within their lives. I would sit and listen see the emotions from happiness to sometimes crying. But what I did see is that they all were individuals with a story, a voice and a journey in which they walked in.
As I sat quietly, I would pretend that it was my turn to speak, and I would play in my mind of the words that I would say. I always thought about making every happy, no tears always smile and having a good life.
The ladies would always greet me as “My Dear” when you get older you are going to be a big beautiful light. Keep smiling and keep being you. As you will make a difference within the world.
From that moment my purpose was to make sure everyone was happy no matter what. But as I got older, I began to see the people within the world a lot of darkness, not knowing who they are, feeling down and not knowing how to be who they came here upon this earth to be. So, I began to volunteer within churches, school, and my local community such as the YMCA. I saw a need within people who didn’t see a light at the end of the tunnel,
I began to look at myself and I knew that a lot stemmed from them not knowing who they are. They didn’t know or see their importance within the world and their purpose.
I found purpose from my grandmother, from the people within the town, when I traveled and within me.
I came up with my mission statement which is my purpose:
I AM… Here to help people speak love and live their truth!
And the main purpose is for everyone to know who they are. Their reason for being upon this earth. The importance of being a light even when you feel yours may be dim. We have a duty to help others become their best selves. And that we walk each day within the essence of purpose.
And not everyone’s purpose will be the same. We’re all puzzle pieces within this life. We give what is truest to who we are. And that is our purpose our reason for being. And once you know your purpose and you begin to walk within that path others will notice too. To me my purpose is my definition of my true authentic self.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am author who writes of love and life, mainly poetry and affirmation. This part of me showed itself via a Near Death Experience I (NDE). I kept this part of me very close one for feeling that I would not be understood. And also, me myself understanding it and incorporating this different part of me within my day-to-day life. I had always had a love of writing, but this urgency was so very different. I filled so many books with words finally reading them to see that yes what was coming from within me from a higher dimension was poetry, was a love of words.
I absolutely adore writing as it connects me to my truest core within me. It is me having a conversation with source and writing it down word for word. It is me being guided to what to share with the world. My first experience was a lot of chatter within my head. As I wrote I felt an ease within my mind. As I began to embrace this fully it became a not just a time but many times no matter where I am. I had to become more comfortable with this gift and be ready at any time for the messages that flow from within me. So, to honor this amazing gift I write it down word for word and when the messages stop, I stop writing. The most beautiful part about this is that I have been given this gift. That out of all of the poets and authors this is authentically me, my superpower.
My Gift My Purpose My Passion
My Mission Statement is:
I am here to help people speak love and live their truth.
My brand is DAWNOLOGY:
The Science of Being You
Dawn – First appearance of light, being a phenomenon, become evident to the mind
Ology – A subject of Study, A brand of Knowledge
DAWNOLOGY was given to me just like the words I write to becoming books of poetry. When I thought about it, it spoke to my spirit, and it was so cool. And my name being Dawn I know it is about light. I did research on ology and it became my brand.
I have just completed a new book of poetry – Finding Solace In Love which was just released. What I love about all of the books that I have receive, written and published is that there is no punctuation. As I am receiving the words I do not receive any punctuation. So, I decided to stay true to the words. As I am the messenger, and I want the readers to read it in how they receive it. I don’t want to control the flow you have the words you create the flow, it’s your story, it is your steps, your excitement and your full journey. It gives the reader the control and ability to receive it in such a personal way, your way.
I am writing for two Magazines monthly

Unsnapped
Turning My Pain Into Purpose
I am always excited about hearing the words from within and writing them to share with the world.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
To me the three most important qualities, skills and or areas of knowledge
KNOWLEDGE OF SELF
To knowing thyself is the most important part of your journey. You have to know you inside and out. You cannot be a follower or try to be someone else. For example, when people hear that I am a poet some say, or you are trying to be like… And my response is always no I am being Dawn Gregory. Knowing who you are is you standing within your space of life and being you. There is no one like me, within my purpose or the words written, the steps that I have taken, or the words spoken. I am the very best at being me always.
PURPOSE
My purpose was found within my grandmother and my Near Death Experience (NDE). I began to see how much humanity and this world meant to me. I didn’t want anyone to suffer. I wanted everyone to know who they are. And that each of us has a unique gift that we are the best at. I would give if someone didn’t have, and it all just came together for me. My purpose was to be a voice for those who had not found theirs to be a light for the ones who walked through darkness not knowing that it wasn’t a destination it was just a short stop until you find your light from within. My purpose is my every day of life it is life, love and living.
LOVE
I realized that Love is something that I have to have within me. That it is just not about giving it away but honing it within yourself. It’s not about looking for it in others also. I had been told by my grandmother, “how can you love anyone else Dawn if you don’t love yourself first.” You must master love within so you will know how to give it.
And my first lesson was unconditional from my mother she loved me unconditionally because as a child I had to learn what love meant and how to embrace it within my life. Love is vast and it is not all the same towards each person, a love of a child would be different than the love for a friend. But we all must love ourselves first, we must love from our purest self our most authentic self.
My Advice would be Knowledge of Self, Purpose and Love are essential to your life experience. Once you have acknowledged it within yourself it is a normal everyday thing, you should not have to wonder how to Love yourself. You should not have to wonder how to have Purpose. And you should not have to wonder how to be or how to Love. These things are essential to your growth of who you are and why you are here upon this earth. These qualities are just the beginning as there is so much expansion within these important qualities. But the most important part begins with you.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
I think about this a lot. As I know that my parents did the best for me that they could. So, I am very thankful for them creating me.
The most impactful part was my parents giving me my wings to fly and letting me be me. They gave me the grace to create, to assist when needed, to correct me but to hear me and see me.
I was a child that was always sharing something I learned. I would read my book reports to them, or I would tell them everyday something that I learned that I thought would help them or us as a family.
My parents let me figure out how to be Dawn. They heard my voice when I spoke when I questioned anything. They let me get into the weeds of myself to knowing that I wanted to plant within my garden of life.
They gave me the basis of life and allowed me to write my own story, to be my own story and to love my story.
They also told me that if whatever didn’t work it was ok to make changes.
So, the most impact thing my parents did for me was to let me be me!
