Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dawn Pace Blasingame. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Dawn Pace, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Hmmm. I’d say my purpose found me. I have always believed that if you turn everything over to God’s hands, you will see God’s hands in everything. Well, it’s been true for me.
I never saw myself as an advocate, author, or speaker although I always dreamed of writing a book. But I never thought I would have anything to write about.
Then I grew up, got married, and my husband became ill. From there my “purpose” began. As I took notes, documented my experiences, and learned to navigate my way through caregiving, I found that I was a “trained by experience” advocate for those whose voices often get squelched or lost in the shuffle. I learned to speak up for myself and be heard. And I learned to lean on my faith to get me through the hard times. Now I want to share that knowledge with others.
I started a social media blog on Instagram, wrote that book, and am working on developing a speaking career to teach others about caregiver advocacy.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
So I am new to this, but I have written a book about my experiences as a caregiver., called All That Remains, A Caregivers Guide Through The Complex World of Healthcare and Letting Go. The book launched in 2023 on Amazon.
Currently I am working on a public speaking and education career..
In 2024 I was a speaker at the ATRA Virtual Conference. My topic was “Caregiver Burnout and Self Care”, which is very important. This topic addressed self-care and mental health.
My Instagram Social Media account has short videos on different topics like self- care, exploring feelings, recognizing you self- worth, and encouraging others to help out caregivers in their lives. @dawn_pace_blasingame
Additionally there have been a few live book signing events, as well as an interview on the Podcast Live Boldly- in 2024. I was interviewed by Nicki Corinne White.
My current projects are getting my ministry for Caregivers, called God’s Waiting Room Ministries, up running full time as it is part time. And my absolute dream is to get Larry’s Place, dedicated to my late husband, up and running. A retreat/daycation/staycation/respite for caregivers and their loved one.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being honest with yourself, knowing your limitations, and strengths are important to knowing what your purpose is and developing a plan of action.
Being willing to take chances, be open and vulnerable will catapult your idea into action. You have to speak out loud what you are planning, then believe in yourself and your ability to make it happen.
Surround yourself with good people of prayer and action that can help you along your journey.
Believe in yourself. Use your voice, claim your skills, take action, don’t give up.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
There are so many people who have helped and encouraged me on my journey.
My pastor. Always there with prayer, listening and guiding me along my way.
My friends. From prayer, to strategizing, to helping connect me to people who can help make my plans a reality. Their honest opinions of my writing, what should go in the book, what I should write next. All of it!
The medical staff I have met along the way. From the ones who were fantastic in all areas, to the ones who were great medical people, but did not really appreciate my journey. All my notes, experiences and education helped develop my desire to further take on the Caregiver journey and ministry.
My publishing editor. She has been my biggest cheerleader and believes in my mission. She has encouraged me to become a public speaker, something I never envisioned for myself. I found confidence I never knew I had.
