Meet Dawnette Palmore

We were lucky to catch up with Dawnette Palmore recently and have shared our conversation below.

Dawnette, so many exciting things to discuss, we can’t wait. Thanks for joining us and we appreciate you sharing your wisdom with our readers. So, maybe we can start by discussing optimism and where your optimism comes from?

My optimism comes from my faith and from seeing, time and time again, how faithful God has been in my life. I know life can be challenging, but I choose to focus on the moments of goodness, growth, and grace that show up along the way. God has blessed me with a beautiful family, and that alone reminds me daily that there is always something to be grateful for. My faith keeps me grounded, and those glimpses of goodness are what fuel my hope and optimism.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m the founder of Your Money On Purpose Coaching, where I help entrepreneurs and small-business owners take control of their money, create financial stability, and build businesses that truly support the life they want. As a Fractional CFO, Money Coach, and Insurance Strategist, my work goes far beyond numbers — it’s about helping people gain confidence, clarity, and a sense of peace around their finances.

My passion for this work comes from my own journey. Years ago, my husband and I ran a successful business, but even with multiple six-figure years, we often felt like the money was slipping through our fingers. Navigating inconsistent income, debt, and financial stress taught me powerful lessons about budgeting, cash flow, and living with intention. Those lessons changed our family’s future — and now I get to help others do the same.

What excites me most about what I do is watching people transform. I love seeing a client go from overwhelmed and anxious to empowered, organized, and confident. Money touches every part of life, and when someone finally feels in control of it, everything else shifts — their business, their relationships, their choices, even their sense of identity. It’s the most rewarding work I could imagine.

In addition to coaching, my company is expanding into tools and resources that make financial clarity more accessible. This year, we’ve launched:

Financial Literacy for Business Owners eBook

Your Money On Purpose Journal (a 90-day financial mindset and planning system)

Plan Your Profit: The 90-Day Financial Clarity Map, a toolkit designed to help business owners get a clear picture of their revenue, expenses, and cash flow

Interactive workshops and masterminds focused on money mindset, cash flow, and building financially resilient businesses

Besides my Your Business On Purpose podcast, I also co-host Coffee With Coaches, a podcast where we talk about the real, messy, and transformative parts of life and business — especially for women entrepreneurs.

Overall, my mission is simple: to help people build a healthy relationship with money, create sustainable financial systems, and experience the freedom that comes from living and doing business on purpose.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three qualities that have impacted my journey the most are my faith, my resilience, and my optimism.

My faith has been the foundation of everything. It has grounded me through every season—especially the hard ones—and reminded me that I’m never walking alone.
Resilience helped me keep moving forward, even when circumstances felt overwhelming or discouraging.
And optimism allowed me to see possibility where others saw obstacles, and to believe that something good could come from every experience.

For anyone early in their journey, here’s what I would encourage:

1. Nurture your faith (whatever that looks like for you).
Stay connected to something bigger than yourself. It’s what helps you stay centered, steady, and hopeful when life or business feels uncertain.

2. Build resilience through action.
Resilience isn’t something we’re born with — it’s something we strengthen. Keep showing up, keep trying, keep learning. Every challenge you face becomes a tool you get to carry with you into the next season.

3. Choose optimism on purpose.
Optimism isn’t denial — it’s choosing to focus on the possibilities instead of the problems. Train yourself to look for the good, the growth, and the lessons. What you focus on really does shape your experience.

No matter where you’re starting, these qualities can be built over time. And when they grow together, they create a powerful foundation for purpose-driven success.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is a woman entrepreneur or small-business owner who is great at what she does but feels frustrated or uncertain when it comes to managing her money. She’s ambitious, purpose-driven, and deeply committed to her work — but behind the scenes, her finances feel messy, inconsistent, or overwhelming.

She might be earning good money but still wondering where it’s all going.
She may feel pressure to “figure it out on her own,” even though she’s exhausted from trying.
Or she may simply want a clearer system so she can pay herself, grow her business, and stop living in reactive mode.

The women who thrive most with me share a few key qualities:

They’re ready to be honest about what’s working and what isn’t.

They’re willing to take small, consistent steps instead of chasing quick fixes.

They value clarity and purpose, not just revenue for the sake of revenue.

They’re open to guidance, accountability, and building healthier money habits.

They want financial peace, not financial perfection.

What makes someone an ideal client is not where they’re starting financially — it’s their willingness to learn, their desire for change, and their commitment to building a business that supports their life, not the other way around.

Ultimately, I work best with women who want to feel empowered, confident, and intentional with their money — and who are ready to finally run their business on purpose.
