Meet DaWonn Andrews

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to DaWonn Andrews. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have DaWonn with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Where did I get my work ethic from? Growing up I watched my mom be a single man raising 6 kids, she also dealt with having seizures from the time I was up until I was 22 when she passed away. Although she dealt with being a single parent and having a serious medical condition she still managed to work, go to school and take really great care of all her kids. She was like superwoman, even after having a series of seizures in one day my mom wanted and did everything, and she taught us despite of the circumstances and situations to always work hard and never give up. She was one that didn’t give up, she always put her best foot forward and fought through everything to reach her goals. I strongly believe that what she taught me stuck with me and it helped me through so many things within my business, times where I wanted to give up I always think about my mom and could hear her tell me to keep pushing and don’t give up. I am one if not the best hard working person I know, I lose sleep perfecting my craft and trying to grow my business and giving up isn’t an option for me despite of anything because I know where my photography business will be in the next few years.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am 27 years old living in Houston,Tx and I am photographer. I have my own photography business that I have been doing for about 4-5 years. I have always had a passion for photography, I was always the person that everybody wanted their pictures taken by. I was already creative so I would make them do different poses and position them by different objects to create an amazing image with lots of creativity. I am focused on getting my name out there to soon be working with well known models, singers, rappers, etc. I am pushing myself to be a well known photographer and even being signed on contract with big modeling agencies as the top photographer for their companies.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I think the most important advice that I can give someone is that if you’re going to be starting their own business is to do it for the right reasons and do it because you love what you do and not only for the money, I feel that if you have a passion for something it’ll always go right and be right despite of the many obstacles that you may endure and to never under no circumstances give up.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I get overwhelmed all the time being a business owner, I try to do everything because I don’t have a team helping with my business it’s me doing everything. It gets very overwhelming but I am learning to not take on so much work at once and I am learning to do one thing after the other.
