We recently connected with DAYHANA and have shared our conversation below.
DAYHANA, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose by listening to what moved me most—people. From a young age, I felt drawn to care, to support, and to be present during life’s most vulnerable moments. That calling only grew stronger through medical school and residency, but it wasn’t until I started working closely with patients in primary care that I realized this was more than a job—it was a mission. Founding Proper Health & Wellness gave me the space to fully live that purpose: to care for the whole person and to create a safe, welcoming environment for every individual who walks through our doors. My purpose is rooted in service, and I live it daily through connection, education, and compassion.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a board-certified family medicine physician and the founder of Proper Health & Wellness, a practice in Pembroke Pines, Florida, dedicated to comprehensive, compassionate care. What began as a vision to create a more personalized primary care experience has grown into a thriving space where we care for the whole person—mind, body, and confidence. In addition to primary care, we offer immigration medical exams, preoperative clearances, and medical weight loss programs. We also expanded into aesthetics through Proper MedSpa, where we provide services like Botox, fillers, IV therapy, microneedling, and laser treatments, all with a strong focus on safety, natural results, and patient education.
What excites me most is being able to meet people where they are. Whether someone is walking in for a check-up, a confidence boost, or support on their wellness journey, our goal is always the same: to make them feel heard, cared for, and empowered. On July 10th, we’ll be celebrating our one-year anniversary, and we’re planning a special event to celebrate with our amazing patients and the community that has supported us from day one. It’s a moment of gratitude, reflection, and excitement for what’s ahead.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three qualities that have shaped my journey the most are resilience, hard work, and strong ethics. Resilience kept me grounded through the highs and lows of building my own practice—reminding me to keep showing up, even when the path felt uncertain. Hard work has always been the backbone of everything I do; there’s no substitute for showing up early, staying late, and going the extra mile for your patients and your team. And above all, my ethics have guided every decision—from patient care to business growth—ensuring that I always lead with integrity. For those just starting their journey, my advice is to stay committed to your values, be willing to put in the effort, and don’t give up when things get tough. Growth takes time, but consistency always pays off.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
My greatest support system has always been my family. My husband is my anchor—his encouragement, patience, and unwavering belief in me have helped me push through the toughest moments. My children shower me with love and joy, and even on the hardest days, they give me the energy and purpose to keep going. My parents and sisters have been my inspiration; the desire to make them proud has fueled my drive and kept me grounded. And, of course, my patients—being trusted with their care, hearing their stories, and watching their progress reminds me every day why I chose this path. They’ve not only shaped the doctor I’ve become but also the person I continue to strive to be.
