We caught up with the brilliant and insightful DB FiLMZ a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
DB, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I’d say I’ve always had confidence since I was a kid. I never was scared to talk to people even till this day I’ll have a conversation with a random person. You never know what you can learn with a “Hey! How’s it going!?” and sparking a conversation.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Well for me just doing camera work whether it’s shooting someone’s vlog or music video to capturing photos for a model or in the moment, I’d say just being able to flow into my creativity through a camera lens tends to be a happy place for me. So putting time and focus into my business as a videographer/photographer most definitely has been something that has came along way from it being a passion of mines that I ventured into from time to time while being a music artist, to now me doing it as a full time business and flourishing in it getting consistent work and more. So most definitely I’d say to anybody with a passion know you can potentially turn a passion into a career path that could possibly open doors for you that you’d never thought you’d be able to open.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Honestly looking back I can say, I’m glad that I’ve always been a person that just always wanted to learn more especially starting out with being a music artist first I just wanted to learn how to do everything. I’ve always had a want to be more behind the scenes than in the front, but by doing music and working with different videographers which some where close friends of mines I got to truly learn a thing or two from them and from then on I was just interested to get into it myself. So being a student and open minded really have always impacted my journey in ways cause that really open new avenues for me to jump into from wanting to learn so much. One thing I can say like I said before being open minded and willing to understand that you may not know anything bout another avenue or you may not be as knowledgeable as the next person who does what you do, so be willing to learning more or be open to trying new things because you never know what you could learn if you dong ask questions and apply the knowledge to your craft or potential avenue you could jump into.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
What I like to do sometimes is just take a mental break. Sometimes we can overwhelm ourselves because in the mist of so much work especially if your consistently booked up you forget to remember to take mental breaks for yourself because that can have you going crazy sometimes, all work and no breaks. So sometimes especially because I’m also a parent just going out and having fun with my son can put me in a calm and stress free place mentally or even just going and doing something that eases the mind like a arcade, or cooking, or even just having good old in the house relaxation with some good music and a football game. So hey the advice I could give if any is don’t over cram yourself with work and don’t forget to take mental breaks sometimes cause it’s most definitely needed!
