We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful DeAndra Colbert. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with DeAndra below.
DeAndra, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Honestly, I found my purpose through a mix of passion, prayer, and trial and error. I’ve always had a creative eye and a love for making things that bring people joy—whether it was personal gifts, party favors, or custom items. Over time, I realized that this wasn’t just a hobby—it was something God placed in me to impact others.
Your Kreative Junkie was born out of that realization. I didn’t just want to make things—I wanted to make people feel seen, celebrated, and thought of. Every product, every basket, every design is an opportunity to share love, creativity, and purpose. That’s when I knew this was more than just business—it was ministry, it was purpose, and it was legacy.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
At Your Kreative Junkie, I specialize in creating custom, one-of-a-kind items that help people celebrate life’s special moments—whether that’s through personalized apparel, party favors, gift baskets, or seasonal bundles. Everything is made with intentionality, creativity, and love. I believe that even the smallest detail can leave a lasting impression, and I bring that mindset into every project I touch.
What makes YKJ special is that it’s not just a business—it’s an experience. I get to be part of people’s milestones: birthdays, graduations, baby showers, holidays—you name it. There’s something so rewarding about turning someone’s vision into reality and seeing the joy it brings them. That’s the most exciting part of what I do.
Right now, we’re expanding in a major way! I’m working on building out a physical storefront and a custom craft shed to elevate production and customer experience. We also have some new product lines dropping soon, especially for the back-to-school season, including personalized school bundles and trending gear for seniors and kindergartners. And for the fall, I’m planning some local pop-up shops and community events to connect more personally with our supporters.
More than anything, I want people to know that Your Kreative Junkie is built on purpose, passion, and faith. Every order means something to me—and I make sure it means something to you too.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities that were most impactful in my journey with Your Kreative Junkie were:
Consistency – There were moments where I didn’t have all the resources or support, but staying consistent—even when results didn’t show up right away—built momentum. Consistency creates trust with your customers and confidence in yourself.
Creativity with Purpose – I learned that creativity isn’t just about making something look good. It’s about connecting with people. When you create with purpose—thinking about the story, the meaning, and the experience—it always hits different. That’s what keeps people coming back.
Adaptability & Learning – Things change fast in business, especially in the creative world. I had to teach myself new skills, pivot when something didn’t work, and stay open to growth. I still learn something new with every order and every challenge.
Advice for those just starting:
Stay grounded in your “why.” That’s what will keep you going when things get hard. Don’t wait to be “perfect”—start where you are, use what you have, and learn as you go. Invest in your skills, be open to feedback, and never underestimate the power of prayer, patience, and persistence. Keep showing up. It matters more than you think.
I remember one time I stayed up all night hand-packing a large custom order for a client’s baby shower. I was tired, overwhelmed, and honestly unsure if I was doing the right thing with this business. But when I got a message the next day saying, “You made our whole day feel extra special, and everyone kept asking where I got everything from”—that moment reminded me why I started. That little spark of impact made all the late nights worth it.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Absolutely! I believe in community over competition. I’m always open to partnering with creatives, entrepreneurs, event planners, and small businesses who share a heart for purpose-driven work and excellence. Whether it’s for custom events, pop-up shops, styled shoots, product launches, or community outreach—I’m here for meaningful collaborations that align with the spirit of creativity and connection.
I’m especially looking to connect with:
Local photographers & content creators
Event planners & party decorators
Boutique owners or store fronts interested in featuring custom products
Nonprofits or ministries hosting giveaways, youth events, or family-centered programming
Creative vendors for pop-up shops or seasonal markets
