We were lucky to catch up with Deanna Lewis Lewis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Deanna Lewis , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I discovered my purpose as an esthetician when I achieved my first client transformation. That moment showed me that I have a true gift for treating clients struggling with hyperpigmentation and acne. Seeing their confidence grow and knowing they trust me with their skin makes me feel incredibly fulfilled. Helping both women and men feel good in their skin is what drives me every day.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi! My name is Deanna Lewis, and I’m a Licensed Esthetician from New Jersey. I specialize in helping women and men struggling with hyperpigmentation and acne, and I can truly say I love what I do. Seeing my clients fall in love with their skin again brings me the most fulfillment.
I started my business at the height of the pandemic—a time filled with uncertainty. With everything locked down, I wasn’t sure how I would move forward, especially since I couldn’t provide hands-on services. That period tested me mentally, but I refused to give up. I felt like I had something to prove—not just to those who doubted me, but to myself.
Once the world opened back up, I hit the ground running, leveraging social media to build my brand. Now, nearly five years later, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. As I approach this milestone, I’m also embarking on an exciting new chapter—opening my own spa, Totality Studios, in Ewing, NJ. This space will be more than just a spa; it will be a sanctuary where women and men can take a break from life’s stresses, even if just for an hour.
I’m beyond grateful for everyone who has supported me on this journey, and I can’t wait to continue making a difference in the lives of my Glo Getters!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities that had the biggest impact on my journey as an entrepreneur were my resilience, my faith, and my hunger for knowledge.
For anyone just starting their journey, my advice is simple—never give up! It’s easy to look at others in your field and feel like you’re behind, but you’re not. You are exactly where you’re meant to be, moving at your own pace.
Also, don’t let social media get to you. It can make you feel like everyone else is ahead, but remember—social media is just a highlight reel. People rarely show the struggles, the setbacks, or the sacrifices. They’ll post the designer bags and the yacht trips, but they won’t post the debt or the late nights of doubt. Focus on your journey, keep learning, and trust that your time is coming!

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was making the difficult decision to let my grandmother raise me when I was 10. This isn’t to bash them in any way, but at the time, both of my parents were struggling with addiction. As hard as it must have been, letting my sister and me go was the best thing they could have done for us.
My grandmother was a strong, determined woman who made it her mission to ensure we beat the odds. Her guidance shaped me into the woman I am today—my heart, my drive, and my resilience all come from her. I will always be grateful to my parents for that decision, and even more grateful that I got to spend so much time with my Mama while she was here.
