Meet Deb Bowman

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Deb Bowman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Deb, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
People might think I have a charmed life. What they may not know, is that I have survived great struggle and hardship throughout my journey. Every ounce of work, pain, and survival has created a resilience from walking beyond those struggles to the other side of wisdom and strength.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a self made performing artist who has traveled all over the world working as a singer and actress. I currently reside half the time in Atlanta, GA and Austin, TX. I moved to New York City at an early age to pursue a career in the performing arts. I am currently in the process of finishing my 4th album which will release in 2024. My new hit holiday single “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” just released on all streaming services online. Check it out! Deb Bowman’s Big Love Holiday Extravaganza, a festive holiday show with music, comedy and character will occur in Sandy Springs, GA Thursday December 21 and Friday December 22 featuring yours truly Dynamo Deb Bowman & The Big Love Band with special guests including the Orbit Arts Academy Company and Junior Company.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Being forced to make my own money and earn everything I have. Having a well rounded education in the performing arts.
Moving to a tough city, NYC, at a young age.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
I believe versatility can be a great tool for a long term career. If you are only great at 1 or a few things, you might limit yourself or minimize your length of success. Having cultivated differing aspects of my artistry, I feel enabled to do many things and continue on that journey of success
