Meet Deb Caron

We were lucky to catch up with Deb Caron recently and have shared our conversation below.

Deb, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

This is such a great question. I often say my purpose found me. Today, I am a professional sound healer, yoga teacher, Reiki Master Teacher and spiritual coach… but all of that couldn’t really be birthed until I went through some life trials (as we all do). I bumbled around a lot in my younger years, had a million different jobs, until I finally earned a degree – and went down the path of working American life. I had the things I was told to strive for: a reliable job, a stable husband, the home, the baby, all the things I was supposed to want. Yet, I was unfulfilled… like something was off.

Fast forward to a divorce and few attempts and ‘failures’ at entrepreneurial endeavors later. I’d been through a lot of ups and downs, but I noticed that yoga — something I had found at age 19 — was the thing that always seemed to bring me back to myself when I felt lost. It was a practice that I think literally saved my soul. An opportunity to do a yoga teacher training presented itself and I jumped the chance. Mainly because I wanted to deepen my understanding of yoga philosophies. I had absolutely zero intention of teaching yoga.

But the universe, as usual, had different plans. I was offered a job teaching classes at a small local studio as soon I completed YTT. Reluctantly I accepted… and immediately realized I loved sharing this gift with others. Sound healing found me similarly. I’ve always been drawn to music and the second I discovered sound healing as meditative/journeying practice I was hooked. I needed the whole world to know about this magical way to access other realms, soothe the nervous system, and destress, Reiki also – my teacher found me and here I am.

Six months ago, I released the corporate world for good and took the bold leap to step fully into what I now know with complete certainty is my purpose here in this lifetime: to help others learn from their experiences, transmute their pain, and find what lights their soul up. Because there is truly no greater joy than living an aligned life – and it’s never too late to start!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am the owner of deMysticism, where I share Sacred Practices for Radical Self Love. Not only do I offer yoga, sound healing, reiki and 1:1 coaching but I also have a podcast and host pop up community events to help people connect with other like minded people. I am particularly passionate about bringing these practices into workplace settings. Having served many years in traditional corporate environments, I know how depleting it can be to spend the majority of your waking hours in a culture that doesn’t always feel human. I work with leaders and people on the ground floor to help foster well-being and emotional regulation, which leads to happier people, higher loyalty and retention rates, and less money spent on sick days.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Self awareness, authenticity, and resilience. I have always been willing to be honest with myself about what I am naturally good at and what lights me up. I know my best work can only come from the heart. In times when I’ve hidden myself, or tried to fit into a box that was too small, I’ve quickly flamed out. These days I refuse to be anything other than my true, honest, self. Lastly, my ability to roll with life’s curveballs has always been an asset. I would tell anyone early in their journey to above all else, stay true to themselves, and trust that things are always working out FOR you, rather than taking the lens that anything is happening to you.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I would love to partner or collaborate with anyone who shares a similar passion for shifting workplace culture to care first about humans – because this is undeniably the MOST valuable resource. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, and given opportunities to care for themselves and thrive. These will be the people who truly help drive your company forward.

If you’re a business owner or work with them, let’s talk about how we can help leaders be even more effective by truly caring for their people!
