Meet Debora Amiliay

We were lucky to catch up with Debora Amiliay recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Debora , so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?

I feel as a creative or worker in general we tend to be to harsh to ourselves on days we feel low or even like not doing anything. I learned that it’s totally fine to “only” stay home the whole day, do some laundry, cook a nice meal and watching a movie. Our body needs rest aswell as our mind does.

The little things create the big picture honestly.
A workout session, a warm bath or even a little skin care routine can be so soothing.
Feeling good will always flow into working good. So with that being said, I need to make sure my body is healthy, stress-free and happy so my mind and creativity is too.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a Swiss creative who draws inspiration from people, cultures, and global experiences.

With my love for fashion, art, and photography, I try to merge images that go beyond aesthetics — revealing the depth and stories behind the faces I see.
Through my lens, I aim to highlight individuality and deliver a message with every picture, showing not only beauty but meaning.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

– motivation:
I felt “stuck”. I wanted to grow and learn more, do more. So I just started. Every time I worked I learned something new.

– courage:
“Am I skilled enough? Is my work good enough?” Are questions that are normal and which will re-occur your life long. Key here is to publish it anyways. Every work is better than no work at all.

– believe:
Have a little faith in yourself and your work. If you really like something, you will get there. The Universe blesses your path as long as you keep walking.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

“The Power of Now.”

I get lost in my thoughts often. Spiraling is easy if you don’t know how to stop.
This book reminds you to stay present in the moment.
To breath before react. To observe your thoughts rather than absorb them.

I think once we can master those things, it will benefit us everywhere. Especially at work.
