Meet Deborah Altizio

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Deborah Altizio a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Deborah , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I developed my confidence during my makeup career by watching and studying some of the best makeup artists in the world. I am very lucky to have had the opportunity to assist Pat McGrath, Charlotte Tilbury, Gucci Westman, Dick Page, and so many more amazing artists.
I have devoted my whole life to the art of makeup. Always fascinated and still passionate every step of the way!

My personal confidence was developed through dance. As a child I had very poor posture. I was also pigeon- toed. Through dance I was able to overcome both of these challenges! I am now a semi professional ballroom dancer.
The dancing also heightens my ability to excel in makeup. Once I transform my own face on the competition floor, I can see what others need to become empowered.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I love making women or men look and feel beautiful! I have worked on many celebrities, musicians, models, brides, actors, influencers during the span of my career. The magic for me happens when they look into the mirror when I’m done.
They feel happy, confident, rejuvenated, sexy or whatever it is that they want to feel. I discuss prior to the makeup what that might be so we can achieve those goals.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Patience! Things didn’t happen for me overnight! It was a long journey of dedication and perseverance. Enjoy the ride

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
I think any type of self help books will help in every aspect of your life. Depends what you are going through. I do remember reading The Secret when I was younger. It was based on principles of the law of attraction. I would also write down what I wanted to achieve and hide them away!
Years later I stumbled on that check list. I do feel that every single thing I asked for was achieved in some capacity. What you think and believe you can achieve.
It was all in my line of reachable achievements! I didn’t have anything way out of reality on there!
