Meet Debraca Russell

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Debraca Russell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Debraca, thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My generosity comes from my village of family and friends when I was a child. I saw my mother help others with a plate of food, a few dollars, or a listening ear. She made sure my sisters and I always felt heard. I remember her working two jobs to make sure we were ok. I can’t remember her complaining about our life, I remember her saying she wished she could give us more.

My mother valued family so she taught us family is the most important thing in life. Family meant love and commitment. It is your responsibility to leave them better than you found them. You are not to hurt ever but help always. Her rule was to show compassion with your last dollar if that is all you had to your name.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My brand. Well Debraca Russell’s brand could be a mouthful to speak about or brain overload to imagine. I have always marched to my own beat. My mother consistently told me growing up, I would not be everyone’s cup of tea, so I better love myself first. I did not realize what she meant, but always said OK, Mom. Needless to say, I know exactly what my mother was trying to instill in me. Stand on my own principles, hold myself accountable at all times, and never do anything in the dark, I did not want highlighted in real life.

Have I always been the best form of Debraca, heavens no, but I am aggressively making strides to get their consistently now. I re-launced my fragrance company this year (2023) with a more concise vision.

Nivrad Fragrances is a fragrance line that is centered around love and family. The elegance, class, and sophistication of Irrelevant Parfum is unforgettable. This unisex parfum summons your senses with each spray as it settles to the love note of warm caramel, vanilla, and citrus. Irrelevant also has body wash and moisturizing lotion.

My second scent is almost completed and will be launched in the Spring of 2024. This unisex parfum will warm your senses leaving you stimulated and ready to take charge of your day. This scent will have bar soap, one and three wick candles along with a moisturizing lotion.

I am extremely excited to operate in this space as it was a dream, I had in 2019. Dreams to reality is what my focus is moving forward. I know my true calling is as a humanitarian/philanthropist. I will help others realize their blessings (gifts) from Christ so they can also build generational wealth for others.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
While others are looking down on others, I am busy looking for ways to help with you a hand up.

Remember to believe who people show you they are, take a unbiased accurate survey of your journey, and act accordingly.

Celebrate every moment, because you will not get another chance to celebrate that moment again.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The book of Psalms, Corinthians and Proverbs in the bible.
