Dee Dee, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I have always wanted to help people. I attended college to be a paralegal and had dreams of going on to law school to help abused children have a voice. I didn’t end up getting my law degree and I always felt like something was missing from my career. While I felt like I helped people, it wasn’t as rewarding as I had hoped. I met my husband in 2009 and he told me about his seizure disorder. Seeing him have a seizure was horrific to say the least. His neurologist had him on 28 pills a day from a cocktail of three different medications. He was still having seizures. I urged him to try medical marijuana. He went out west and learned about cannabis oil and how to make it. Once he started using it, he got off all medications and went seizure free for 5 years! That became my purpose. I started learning more and using the CBD oil for my own debilitating anxiety and saw a significant improvement without side effects. It was a game changer for me as well. I decided to start offering and educating people in my community and our products started to make a difference. Now I am the largest and most trusted hemp retailer in Louisville, Kentucky.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I have spent the last 8 years working on being the most trusted source for CBD and hemp products. I have won many local awards and even won one for ethics from the BBB. I have worked on legislation and even was appointed by Kentucky’s Governor to his Medical Cannabis Advisory Committee. We just got medical passed in Kentucky and it was an honor to be part of that history.

I have created three brands that I am super proud of as well. Mireya Extracts is our CBD wellness brand. We have products like tinctures, gummies, topicals and edibles. Each product is tested for accuracy and potency. DZD8 and DZD9 are our fun line of legal THC products. Each product in those lines are carefully curated to provide the maximum benefit, while still be legal. Making it ok for us to ship directly to consumers.

My self and my staff always take the time to educate and help our customers find the best product for their needs. We don’t push certain items more or sell something that someone simply doesn’t need. It is all about integrity and having knowledge to help others in need.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being empathetic and sympathetic has served me well in the hemp industry and with my customers and my staff. Being knowledgeable about the products, but also about the legal side to this industry has helped me grow immensely.

Doing what you love counts as well. It makes getting up in the mornings a lot easier and hearing how much my products have helped directly from the customers have made it all worth it.

Give your self room to grow and learn. Always try to look at the bright side and be proud of what you have accomplished, but humble and appreciative too.

How would you describe your ideal client?
Anyone and everyone. Most people don’t even realize that they have an Endocannabinoid System or that it needs cannabinoids to function properly. While our bodies naturally produce them, it typically isn’t enough. I truly feel like this is one of the reasons people suffer with anxiety or can’t sleep, which only makes their anxiety worse. We hate for our products to be someone’s last resort, but they are usually very happy with their results. We are always available to answer questions and guide people on the best product for their needs. Our clients are 100% diverse. We have children that use our THC Free gummies for anxiety relief and to help focus. We have people with cancer, PTSD, Parkinson’s, and many other ailments that use our products to get relief. No one is alike, yet everyone could benefit from nourishing their Endocannabinoid System with natural cannabinoids.
