Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Deidra Hogan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Deidra, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Surely people expect some cliché movie response about purpose. Anyone who knows me knows I’ve always wanted to be a hairstylist. I’ve always loved to do hair and I love everything about it. I definitely have my days but it’s still my number one. I came back to this being my passion after I gave myself time and opportunity to try to do other things. I’ve always given 1000% anything I’ve ever done but doing what I do just makes me happier, creating healthy hair is some thing that really feeds my soul.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m the owner and operator of Deidramatik, specializing in natural haircare, growth, and retention. Doing what I do gives me a chance to connect with people as well as help them feel good about themselves. What’s new and upcoming our products! So I’ve launched Deidramatik Lashes, it’s doing well. The hair oil is also out and for sale at Deidramatik.com. It is an all natural mix of Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Hempseed Oil, and Vitamin E! It’s amazing for any scalp type, also works extremely well adding shine & moisture to beards! What’s coming up? My amazing deep conditioning hair mask, due out this fall. Also traveling to major cities in Texas to provide amazing hair care services, and promote all things Deidramatik!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Consistency, organization, and resiliency will carry you through just about any phase of business. My best piece of advice would be keep going! Don’t measure your level of success to anyone else or the timeline they’re on. If you’re not truly passionate about what you want to go into business for it won’t last. This isn’t an easy thing to do being in business for yourself. The love for a keeps me going on days when I feel like I’m failing at something or just feeling burnt out. All in all, if you love it, keep going!

Yoga, make a list of goals or a plan to do something, & if all else fails I eat ice cream & have a mini meltdown. I let myself go through whatever it is I need to so I can keep going. Sometimes I need to regroup, sometimes I over stress myself, most times I just need to slow down. So I guess that’s my advice. Take your time. The feeling of being overwhelmed is normal but not a permanent thing. Give yourself some grace. I know I have to.
