Meet Delaney Perry

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Delaney Perry. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Delaney, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

One of my mentors told me that confidence comes from competence. And competence comes from doing something enough times to the point you get really good at it. People need courage too, but courage doesn’t come first… COMMITMENT comes first! Big time people Commit first, then they get the Courage, then they start building the Capabilities, and then they get the Confidence.

This is true! But where I also get my GODfidence from is from God Himself: what He says about me, His Truth, and His Word of who He says I am. He calls me fearfully and wonderfully made. He calls me a precious treasure. I’m a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord. The Lord delights in me. He rejoices over me like a bridegroom rejoices over His bride. (Isaiah 62:3-5) I really used to be so insecure and struggled with confidence since childhood, but THE LORD broke that off of me in Jesus’ name!

I say all of this to say that the confidence that I have in the Lord trumps every insecurity that the devil tries to throw my way. I have to die to myself every day and allow the Lord to renew my mind. I don’t have to believe the lies of the enemy because they are just that: Lies. But when the GOD OF THE UNIVERSE claims me as His own daughter and He is FOR ME, then who can be against me? Who should I fear? Certainly not mankind! God approves of me so I can be CONFIDENT in who He says I am.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

When COVID hit in 2020, I dropped out of college to start my first business in network marketing. It took me a year and a half of traveling all over the world building my first 2 businesses to hit rock bottom. Everyone in my team had quit and I was left to build all by myself in a new company that we had just switched over to. Even my own family quit. I didn’t know what to do. I had jumped ship from our first company to one with false promises, quit my jobs and dropped out of college to pursue this path full-time, invested all $15k of my life’s savings into businesses that collapsed, and had to move back into my mom’s house because I ran out of money.

Then miraculously (all God-ordained) I found a random podcast guy on Instagram, took a leap of faith, and started my final business with him. In my first month, I made 6 times more income than I’d ever made in any of my other businesses. We were having exponential growth! I let the quick acceleration get to my head and pride started to seep in. I looked down on the leaders who had built this from the ground up and thought to myself, “If only they went through what I went through! They don’t know how to build something like this for real. I can do better than them.” That pride brought me to the point where I was willing to basically sell my soul to the devil, so to speak. I had become insatiable for success. I NEEDED it to fill the void in my heart.

Before I could make that decision though, God came through and gave me a wake up call. I got into a car accident with my sister and a drunk driver. Everything that played out in the accident was a miracle. I didn’t even need to see it to believe it. I just burst into tears. She asked me what I thought God was trying to tell me in this moment. Still crying, I sobbed, “I think I need God.”

I went home that night, downloaded the Bible app, laid on the couch, and listened to the narrator read to me from Genesis. And for the first time in 2 years since I became an entrepreneur, I didn’t work at all for a week straight. I just wanted to know Who this God is Who saved me from death.

I texted one of my business mentors who I knew talked a lot about Jesus, so I figured she was close with God. I asked her what church I should go to in my area, and she sent me one to Google. I searched it, found the prettiest campus, and went to that one the following Sunday. If there was anything I learned in entrepreneurship, it was to be around people who had the results you wanted and learn from them.

I was at that church all day. I had so many questions and the greeters had so many answers. I’d never been to a church where questions were welcome like that before. And I’d never been to a church that was so diverse and filled with what seemed like normal, joyful, pleasant people. I stayed for all the services and felt so full of joy. As we stood around watching people get baptized after the second service, a lady next to me leaned in and asked if I’d ever been baptized. I said I don’t think so and she asked if I wanted to be. “HECK YES” was my response! Minutes later I’m in the tub surrendering my life to Jesus. Jesus met me there; the true Living Water.

Now this movement of God has become a whole ministry. The movement we are launching these days is called Make Atlanta Healthy Again where we are calling on other wellness businesses in the Atlanta area to join us in contributing to something bigger than ourselves to really make an impact on our community. We are on a mission to Make Atlanta Healthy Again as a whole! One of the biggest things we believe is that every American deserves to have easy access to holistic and natural foods/water sources, the opportunity to financial freedom, and that there is power in prayer. We believe that looks like getting healthy physically, spiritually, and financially. I believe this because I’ve witnessed too many people who suffer from “chronic” illnesses and are told they’ll have to be on medication for the rest of their life and suffer. I’ve seen too many of my friends who went to college for 4+ years and can’t even find a job or they’re still struggling to pay bills. I’ve heard too many people who are lost, depressed, and desire community. So here we are to bring good health back to the heart of Georgia and it starts with us and our families! We will be having events and in person meetups in the Atlanta area as part of our MAHA Atlanta community.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. Humility.
I can’t stress the importance of this one enough. I realized very quickly just how little I knew about how to run a successful business. If I had stayed in a prideful state of thinking I could do everything all by myself, I never would have made it to where I am now! Humility is what helped me jump from making $600/month in my business to making 6x that in my first month relaunching just by following what people who had the results I wanted were telling me to do. I’ve seen too many entrepreneurs who are big dreamers but that’s all they do is dream. They have big ideas but don’t submit to mentorship and end up losing a lot of money that they could have prevented had they followed a successful mentor’s instructions.

2. Moving quickly
Again, I have seen people who desire to get into entrepreneurship or the business space but are very slow to actually implement their ideas. They sit around for hours fantasizing of what an amazing financially-free future they will have yet when it comes to their plan on actually taking action on their ideas, they will give you a vague answer of when they will start. Avoid these people at all costs and don’t get drawn into the fantasizing-but-never-acting crowd, or “wannapreneurs”. All of my best work and most results have come from me moving quickly and urgently. I didn’t sit around waiting for the “perfect timing” to come. I created it by taking immediate action, and then everything else fell into place around me. I’ve found that God does reward those who walk by faith and not by sight!

3. Continue to invest into your personal growth
Your business success will always fall back on your level of leadership. What I love about the business I do is that it is very gracious towards people who have no skills because of the mentorship involved, so you can still earn good income while you learn the skillsets to maintain or grow your business. However, my biggest advice for this would be to continuously invest in high-level mentorship. No matter what it takes, continuously upgrade and expand your network with people who are where you want to be financially. Do whatever it takes to get in rooms with people where you are the dumbest in the room and surround yourself with those people no matter how much it costs! This will accelerate you like no other because of the connections you’ll make and the ideas they can give. BUT, make sure you go to events like this with something to GIVE and not just take. Give value any way you can either with your time, energy, or money.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

I used to believe “Think and Grow Rich” was the ultimate book of wisdom, but it literally has nothing on the Bible. There are so many nuggets of financial wisdom as well as character-building wisdom in the book of Proverbs and all throughout pages. It was in this book that God taught me and continues to teach me His good and perfect will for my life! And let me tell you, life is SO much better with God’s hand in it. Instead of relying on New Age teachings and trying to be my own God, I found that life and business that is submitted to God brings way more peace with less striving, and more serving with a heart of love and grace.
