Meet Delfina/ena Hallett

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Delfina/ena Hallett. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Delfina/Ena, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I have always been an artist, of varying types. After my children were grown I rediscovered my passion to create, picked up a camera and boom things exploded.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Once I started my journey with photography I quickly learned my talent lay with portrait work. People once thought photos stole a piece of their soul, I believe with my talent I am able to bring the soul to the forefront of the photograph. I have a knack for bringing out the best in people. I shoot the story and capture the soul.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I believe my ablitiy to approach random people and ask them if I could photograph them got me a long way in my journey. People open up more when you compliment them, when you point out their specialness. I’ve met a lot of good people and clients that way. My ability to connect with people has really helped in conducting photoshoots. Having an easy going manner helps people feel more at ease which leads to better photos. I went into the skills of photography blind. I didn’t read books on how to do this or that. I self taught. I developed my own style, my own eye. My advice to people who are starting out in photography is to capture what you love. Start out there and don’t worry if your photos are “perfect’. Over time you will gain skill, but by capturing the emotion or the beauty of things that mean something to you, you will see you are creating a real photograph and not a “snapshot”.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m always looking for people to collaborate with. I am currently looking to expand my portfolio, and am open to working with people of all walks of life. The easiest way to contact me is through my Instagram account at @quiverandquillphotography
