We were lucky to catch up with Delilah Giron recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Delilah, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
I learned self-discipline early—not by choice, but by circumstance. Watching my mom throw away everything and seeing how that affected our lives forced me to grow up fast. I was passed from one family member to the next, often without either of my parents around, and I knew deep down I wanted more. I never wanted to live the way we did growing up. That experience taught me to be self-reliant, focused, and relentless in going after what I want. I’ve fought hard for the life I’m building, because I refuse to repeat the cycle I came from.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a photographer and the owner of a creative studio where I get to work with amazing people—whether it’s capturing powerful boudoir sessions, helping small businesses level up their branding, or designing fun and unique sets. What I love most is creating a space where people feel confident, seen, and celebrated. It’s more than just taking pictures—it’s about telling a story and helping people show up as their best selves.
Lately, I’ve been focused on growing the branding side of my business and turning my studio, The Creative Loft, into a space where other creatives can come in, shoot, and bring their visions to life. There’s always something exciting happening!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three things that had the biggest impact on my journey were resilience, self-discipline, and creative problem-solving. Life didn’t hand me much, so I had to learn early on how to keep going, even when things felt heavy or uncertain. That built my resilience. Self-discipline came from knowing I didn’t have a backup plan—if I wanted a better life, I had to show up for myself every single day. And as a creative, learning to figure things out on the fly and make the most of what I had was key.
For anyone just starting out, my advice is to stay consistent, even when things feel slow or hard. Don’t wait to feel ready—just start, and learn as you go. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help or connect with others. Building something meaningful takes time, but every step counts.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Two books that have really shaped me are Atomic Habits and The Magic. Atomic Habits taught me how powerful small, consistent actions can be—how just showing up every day, even in a tiny way, can lead to big changes over time. It helped me build discipline and stay focused on long-term goals. The Magic opened my eyes to the power of gratitude and manifestation. It reminded me that mindset is everything, and when you focus on what you have and what you’re calling in, you start to attract more of it. Both books taught me how to be intentional in how I live and work—and that’s been a game changer.
