We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Delphine Lippens a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Delphine, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I have not in the way you might think. A few months before my 50th birthday, I discovered Human Design and it’s been a journey of self-discovery with HD confirming that I am aligned whenever I trust my gut, even if it makes no sense to the people around me, or to myself sometimes. I have learned to trust my instinct, and the explanation/reason will come later. As a reflector 6/2 RRRR, my life purpose is to experience experiences, explore, observe, reflect, wonder, create, destroy, like a Tibetan sand mandala being wiped after completion, try again, do, redo, learn, grow, be disappointed, again, be hopeful, optimistic, try yet again, pivot, learn, grow some more, acquire some wisdom along the way and so forth. One of my design’s attributes is to express creativity through form, in many different ways, metamorphosing every few years. Knowing your Human Design / program is a huge advantage and not everyone has the ability to know what they are because you need an exact time/date & place of birth. If you are wrong within 15 minutes, it will end up being false. However, if you’re one of the lucky ones, it can make you understand who you are and help you make choices that are more aligned with your design – and that applies to business too. At the end of the day, we are just a program in an organic life form. If you are a toaster born in a family of blenders, in a society made up of a majority of blenders, and you are expected to perform like a blender, not only will you not be able to, but you will be miserable along the way, beating yourself up, not understanding why you just can’t be or perform like all the blenders around you … and that is a waste of time and energy, a waste of your own uniqueness, a waste of the gifts you have inside of you. Through your own unique amalgamation, the world needs to see, hear, read, witness and experience what YOU bring to the table. We don’t expect a giraffe to fly or climb a tree because that’s just not its design! We don’t expect dolphins to trek through the desert because that’s just not its design and environment. Well, as human beings, the greatest gift to yourself, your soul and the world is to be who you are and give yourself permission to change if you are not happy (within reason). So, I guess my “purpose” is to enjoy this incredible gift of a life, learn, make mistakes, grow and share my point of view through the lenses of my own creativity. For a decade it was Humble Ceramics. Now, I’m ready to wipe the slate clean and try something new, again.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As a jack of all trades, I’ve had and will have many more journeys in this life. The last one was called Humble Ceramics. After more than a decade, I have decided to step away from the world of ceramics, September 2024 will be the last month for online sales, and the work will only be available in a few stores (stocklist at HumbleCeramics.com) until all is sold out.
However, I am excited to announce that my new venture is called Shungite Publishing and it is just another way to express “my” creativity, but this time, in the form of children books, poetry books, and more. Once again, it will be a self-taught journey (as Marie Forleo’s mom would say … everything is figureoutable!). As a fierce hermit and introvert, I realized that I want to work alone as much as possible. I am not meant or wired to lead a team, and would attract the wrong fit if I did. I tried, I failed, I learned, I grew, hopefully, I am a little wiser now. This new venture allows me to create in my own bubble … until I pivot again and who knows what will come after that. But for the next 5 years at least, this will be my new offering to the world. I am not ready to launch just yet, but I cannot wait to share the book series once all the elements are aligned. As always, spiritual, healing and beauty elements will be present in one way or another.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Just 3????
– Knowing who you are and what works for you (or not …. and why!) Knowing your Human Design will be as useful as listening to 25 audiobooks on any subject like life, business, nutrition, etc …
– Do a yearly Vedic Astrology or Human Design projection for the year ahead, and write the crucial dates in your calendar, but don’t stop living your life, be paralyzed or obsessed by it; it’s just a weather report of some sort (if I know it’s going to rain, I will not hang my sheets outside to dry … as an example).
– Learn to organize your desktop & digital files and label your emails so you can find any document in less than a minute !!!
– Look at mistakes and “failures” as opportunities to grow and learn! “teachable moments” – and be grateful for all of it.
– Decide where your time is best utilized, and hire a great bookkeeper and accountant!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was to give me life and expose me to as many experiences as possible such as art, theater, dance, music, design, architecture, great food, nature, sports, philosophies, metaphysical concepts, farming, agriculture, growing up around animals (life & death), traveling, etc … It is interesting what stuck with me. And the most impactful experiences did not cost a dime, just time (like a walk in the forest, picking fresh hazelnuts, visiting an art foundation, etc …). Even it was not easy for them to understand who I was, in the end, they accepted me as I was (I think they gave up) which freed me to be me. And as me, I can share my gifts and point of view with the world … sincerely & genuinely without welting my soul.
