Meet Demetrius Watts

We were lucky to catch up with Demetrius Watts recently and have shared our conversation below.

Demetrius, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I find ways to stay inspired. i will even put myself in fabricated situations or scenarios just to get a spark of creativity out of it. I enjoy reading, reading is big for me, reading books, articles and headlines keeps my creativity alive and strong. Last but definitely not the least but from my team, its never a dry season.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
For those that don’t know allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is Demetrius D. Watts (D. Watts for short). Stand-up comedian from Pensacola Florida living in the beautiful city of Orlando. I’m up to a lot, this summer I’m going to be busy giving people comedy shows, after comedy shows. All summer, twice a month, bi-weekly on a Saturday Florida afternoon, “Keep It Funny” is one of my many events that i have planned. If your readers are in Florida or if they want to take a trip, then they should definitely come to my event and be a day one.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Will, Drive, and Confidence. Looking back these are my strongest three qualities that I feel if I didn’t have, I wouldn’t be as far as I am today as a stand up comedian in this business. But to be honest my biggest key, and the best advice that i can give to anyone, is keep reading. Read as much as you can, whenever you can. I once heard Chris Rock say comedians should read more and I started doing that.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m looking to partner with venue owners, A/V type of people, promoters, I’m willing to partner and work with anyone that has positive energy and is willing to get dirty to make a comedy show come to life. Reach out to me, especially venue owners small, medium or large, public or private. I’m a comedian ready to tell these jokes.
