We were lucky to catch up with Demirhan Erim recently and have shared our conversation below.
Demirhan, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
I was born into a wealthy family and grew up surrounded by abundance. My grandmother, the most generous person I’ve ever known, set a powerful example by always cooking for guests and giving freely to those around her. However, as our family faced economic hardships, we began to lose some of our properties. This experience taught me a profound lesson — wealth is not permanent, and it can vanish in a matter of years.
This realization shifted my focus toward things that could never be taken away from me, like education, experiences, and personal growth. Over time, I came to understand that nothing is ever truly “lost” — it simply transforms. The energy of that wealth never disappeared; it just changed form.
This belief has deeply shaped my generosity. I no longer see giving as a loss. Instead, I view it as part of an ongoing cycle of transformation. What I give doesn’t leave me — its energy stays with me, just in a different form. To me, giving and receiving are like siblings in a constant, balanced dance. This perspective allows me to give freely, knowing that abundance is always present, just reshaped in ways I may not immediately recognize.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am an entrepreneur dedicated to building ventures that create lasting impact. As the founder of Erim Ventures, I lead multiple startups, including uLouder, a location-based app that connects communities through local announcements and business promotions. With over 100,000 users and 1,750 digital stores, uLouder is transforming how neighborhoods connect, support, and grow together.
Beyond uLouder, I’m working on MyGarage, a platform that blends vehicle management with social media, allowing car enthusiasts to track, share, and connect around their vehicles.
What’s Next?
We’re preparing for a new funding round for uLouder to expand features that empower users to earn money within the app, from selling items to offering services. My broader vision with Erim Ventures is to create a venture ecosystem where startups support each other, driving growth and positive change for millions.
At the heart of it all is a belief in transformation. I’ve learned that nothing is ever truly lost — it simply takes a new form. This mindset fuels my ventures and drives me to create value, not just for profit but for purpose. Stay tuned, because we’re just getting started.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Resilience
Setbacks taught me that nothing is truly lost — it just transforms. This mindset helped me stay focused on long-term goals.
Advice: Embrace challenges as lessons, not failures. Build mental strength by reflecting on past growth and practicing gratitude.
2. Visionary Thinking
I see opportunities where others see obstacles. uLouder and MyGarage came from identifying market gaps and acting on them.
Advice: Train yourself to think big. Ask “What if?” and follow that thought to its fullest potential.
3. Relationship Building
Success is a team effort. My network of mentors, friends, and partners has been crucial to my growth.
Advice: Build genuine connections, not transactional ones. Offer value first, and opportunities will follow.
Final Words
Focus on resilience, vision, and relationships. Embrace transformation, and success will come faster than you think.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Nutuk by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is a masterclass in leadership, vision, and resilience. Here are the key lessons that continue to guide me:
1. Vision Before Action
Atatürk defined the future he wanted before taking action.
Lesson: Success requires a clear vision. I apply this to every venture, from uLouder to new business ideas.
2. Resilience in Adversity
Against overwhelming odds, Atatürk never wavered.
Lesson: No challenge is permanent. Obstacles are tests of strength, not limits.
3. The Power of Strategy and Timing
Atatürk knew when to act, wait, or shift tactics.
Lesson: Success isn’t just effort — it’s precision. I prioritize strategy over speed.
4. Unshakable Belief
His belief in the people’s potential inspired a nation.
Lesson: Confidence is contagious. To lead, you must believe in yourself and your mission.
5. Embrace Transformation
Atatürk didn’t preserve the past — he built a new future.
Lesson: Progress demands bold change. I aim to challenge the status quo in every venture.
Nutuk is more than history — it’s a guide for leaders, creators, and change-makers. It taught me to lead with vision, act with strategy, and embrace transformation to achieve lasting impact.
