We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Demitrius Palmer. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Demitrius below.
Demitrius, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
In 2014 I survived a brain aneurysm that left me in a coma for 4 days. After getting back on my feet, further testing determined that an AVM located directly on my spinal cord was a major contributing factor in this incident. I had another incident in the hospital and was rushed into a 16 hr. emergency spine surgery that left me paralyzed from the waist down with zero mobility or function. (That is a story in itself)
After some intense rehabilitation and dedication I was able to walk again with a walker as a stipulation of my hospital release. Over time I regained most functions but had severe neuropathy still on the left side of my body, so I had little feeling back.
After some time I started fully walking again only to slip and fall, suffering an ankle injury. Being unable to feel the severity of the injury due to the neuropathy I walked on the ankle making the injury worse. Long story a little shorter, that ended up in amputation.
I have so much more I have overcome however all of this has built the resilience in me to go out in the world boldly as myself and go after my goals.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Professionally, I am a business consultant, specializing in data analysis and strategy. I assist businesses with implementing new frameworks similar to S.W.O.T. analysis and other scoring systems to track productivity and promote business growth. I also track digital data in order to increase data driven decision making, and decrease risk. I recently developed a new modern framework that tracks and generates a score in the top 5 most important areas of focus within an organization. I also operate within the entertainment space with a focus on concerts and car shows. I am currently looking to explore sporting events in the near future.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I feel there were a few skills and over all qualities that allowed me to be most impactful, the biggest being my will to adapt and overcome. My medical journey trained me on how to adapt and mold to situations that were not in my favor in order to complete the task or come up with a solution. By being able to accomplish this, I it allowed me to approach each obstacle with the mindset that every problem has a solution. Another skill would by analysis, however across more than just business. Analysis is also done within your day to day tasks and increases ability to make strong decisions. By analyzing your environment and all things within it, you can harness the energy of the environment to navigate it properly. This is with personal and work. My ability and eagerness to learn has also benefited me greatly. Yu have to walk into a room knowing you should be there, but willing to be the sponge in the room before being the faucet.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal clients are business owners and decision makers who struggle with consistency, growth, and expansion within their brand. I also love helping entrepreneurs in the early stages develop frameworks to track Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats.
