We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Demontae Edmonds. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Demontae below.
Demontae, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I have discovered two primary ways that my confidence and self-esteem have built over the years. Firstly, learning to celebrate each and every small victory is paramount to building one’s self-worth. Too many individuals wait for the major victories and mountain moments to celebrate their own accomplishments and growth. Celebrating the small achievements will build your confidence little by little over time. It will also prepare you for when there is loss or failure that you will discover that there have been more victories than losses.
Secondly, I have learned to develop confidence and self-esteem by facing challenges head on. We all have areas of weakness and areas that we feel not proficient. Instead of avoiding obstacles, fears, and areas of weakness facing them head on and throwing one’s energy into overcoming them helps to greatly build self-esteem and confidence.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the President of a Non-Profit organization named Destiny 4 the Nations Inc. It is an international missionary organization which conducts conferences, seminars, projects, and assignments to help spread the Gospel globally. As well we desire to address more socio-economic issues such as juvenile delinquency, fatherlessness in urban communities, refugee crisis, and feeding programs for the less fortunate. There is always a great need in the world for helping the less fortunate and disenfranchised.
I’m most excited about working alongside leaders of nations who desire to better understand the direction God desires to take their nation. Also, leaders who welcome the help of third parties that can help speak into and bring solutions to complex spiritual and socio-economic issues. Part of our mission is to help nations understand their God-given destiny and purpose.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful to my journey have been tenacity, patience, and discretion. The attribute of tenacity gives one determination to stay in the race and fight no matter what happens. Tenacity allows one to endure both good and challenging seasons. Patience is vital as it helps to both minimize anxiety in one’s life and also minimizes taking hasty actions that could cause misfortune. Sound discretion develops over time as I have learned the factors and variables that affect good decision making such as timing, proper allocation of resources, and goal setting.
One of the best ways to develop and improve on these qualities is by studying the lives of other leaders who have accomplished great achievements in your area of discipline. As well being an avid reader lends credence to developing the qualities of tenacity, patience, and discretion. In addition, one of the most important factors to developing these character traits is to be disciplined in one’s lifestyle, schedule, and relationships.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
A great role model for me has been Dr. Warren Singleton. I really admired his pure lifestyle, him being a great family man, and succeeding as a dentist and ministry leader. Also, he taught me a great deal about extending grace to people, walking in wisdom, managing the use of words, and patience.
