Meet DENYC (Denise Poole)

We recently connected with DENYC (Denise Poole) and have shared our conversation below.

DENYC, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
The way I was raised was quite different and it really shaped me as an adult. I grew up in a very small Christian private school where I was engulfed in arts and religion. I spent my childhood performing on stage and playing make-believe. I did not grow up with social media, I did not read magazines, and I didn’t have many friends or watch much TV. Because I was so independent and introverted I developed my own strong sense of self. I struggled with loneliness and anxiety growing up, but as an adult, I learned it was in those moments that my self-confidence was formed. After a near-death car accident changed my outlook on life, I worked hard to overcome my social anxiety and break out of my shell so that I could be a leader not just in front of the camera or on a stage, but in life as well.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m an actress and screenwriter and I own FLAUNT Entertainment (LA’s best entertainment provider for events and trade shows). Performing is my life and my latest artistic endeavor is DJing! I picked it up earlier this year and have been teaching myself through practicing on live Twitch and Pico VR.

I am super excited to come on to the dance music scene as a DJ. I was a dancer in nightlife through my company for many years, and after an accident, I chose to step down from dancing. I was heartbroken but rekindled my passion for music through DJing. My DJ name is DENYC, it’s pronounced Denise, just spelled differently. If you like dance music, then come see me play melodic techno, electronic, and progressive house. You can join my stream on Twitch @djdenyc

As the holiday season approaches Flaunt has been busy busy. We have the hottest talent and are the ultimate choice for elite events in LA and OC. Follow our IG https://www.instagram.com/flauntent/ and check out our website https://www.flauntentertainment.com/ for more info on booking FLAUNT.

One way I can continue to give back to the dance community is through the FLAUNT GoGo Academy. I teach free-style heels classes for dancers looking to improve their freestyle performance and anyone who wants to try a no-pressure dance class. The academy is open for enrollment. https://www.flauntentertainment.com/pages/dance-academy

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1) Believe in yourself and never doubt your dreams. 2) Help others with their goals without expectations.
3) Keep your integrity above all else.

This is my advice to those who are chasing their dreams. Don’t get wrapped up in a social climb, or fake environment. Surround yourself with real people who actually care about you. Be willing to learn and also to fail. And above all, have fun following your dreams!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I love collaborating!! I am always looking to work with other creatives.

I would actually love to have a partner in my business. If you’re into the entertainment industry and have a business background hit me up.

I am also looking to meet people in the electronic music industry. Booking agents, DJs, Managers, Producers… I’m ready to get out there! I would now like to learn to create my own songs. I’m a singer, but have never worked with any music software. Looking for people to work with in the melodic techno genre.
